Would they need to go in the past again or would this sacred treasure work retroactively, like some kind of omega-device ..?

Okay... Sarara's plan has... "merit".

I say "merit" in the most... light sense possible, like... I can see the idea... but that won't work in their favor in the slightest.

Unless, in the next chapter, she says this treasure somehow doesn't alter the flow of time in any way besides the one intended... killing Shirato, and by default erasing En-no-Ozuno from "history", will have dire consequences.

His presence in the world has shaped many of the events in their time, even Azuma-no-Miya's rise to the throne depended on his presence in a few ways, to only mention one thing that could go completely off the rails.

This is not a plan... this is a desperate gamble without a "real win".

Sure... if they don't mind the timeline correcting itself and drastically changing things, then it becomes a "valid idea".

But I sincerely doubt that causing such harm to the "history" would be a good thing in any way, I think dealing with the side effects of Kozumi's meddling would be easier than this "plan".

And one more thing... considering how divorced Kozumi seems to be from the correct flow of time... there is a chance this could backfire horribly.

feels like it follows the Spirit Circle rules for predestination, which is to say: "what?"
Here is a little idea to be able to understand "time travel" shenanigans... time isn't a stream, time is a "globe", it encompasses everything, it does have a flux, but it isn't as "linear" as we think.

This is purely a literary idea.

Yup, I agree. I get the feeling for some reason killing En wouldn't work, either because the bad guy isn't actually him from the future (who knows, maybe a clone, maybe him from an alternate universe, anything goes in this series) so killing En wouldnt stop the bad guy and would just rob them of a powerful ally.

Anyways, this was a pretty profound chapter, with Miyo and Tarume's musings about the future and married life. Thanks as always Ura Baiters, you've done us manga fans a solid here.

It reminds me of the movie Arrival, which asks, "Knowing your daughter, at twelve years old, will die of an incurable disease, destroying the relationship you will have with your future husband...would you still choose to have her?" The answer is, of course, yes, because she learns an alien language changes her perception of time, allowing her to see the past and future simultaneously and declaring that all events are predestined.

Then they go and try to pull the ol' "Guardians make their own fate" on top of it. Mixed messages.

Pretty sure his existence is already cut off from causality. Heck, even our main party trio might already be cut off given their nature and the path they took getting there.

But the "ethical" plan doesn't sound very reliable either.

I'm thinking a better bait would be something that consumes mantra. And I think that might be Oni.

Oh, wow. These last 3 chapters really do me a massive whiplash of emotions. The future where Miyo x Zen and Tarume x Ozuno are canons gave blush here and there. But now (somewhat) confirmation Kozumi = Ozuno? Ugh, oh. I'm used to stand to my denial that they are different person. I really don't want it to be true cause it may hurt Hitokotonushi even more ....
Ugh, I was crying over this chap 😔💔

Hope we take the route where "Kozumi is not simply 'Ozuno'" later.
