I like overpowered every day people but misunderstanding cant read the room type air heads like our dear protagonist? I can't believe she just let them tie her up. She saw her friend tied up. No doubt saw other people tied up and dead on crucifixes. Saw that everyone is exhibiting cult behavior and she just... brushes it off? It didnt click immediately when she looked up and turned around? I get being socially isolated in a dangerous zone where everything tried to kill you may give you some bad social skills but this is taking me out of the immersion. And then the chapter just ends on that cliffhanger?

I get that it's a comedy and i will laugh at their cartoonish reactions to her killing stuff with ease but this will be an annoying song and dance if this happens on the regular.

Saitama did it better. He's the world's ultimate powerhouse who misunderstands a lot and does a lot of silly but he catches on quick when lives are at stake? But this lady? I'm disappointed

yeah. this story is strongly starting to lose me too. socially awkward & misunderstanding, no problem at all.
but right now Kino just behaves incredibly stupid. this has gone far beyond misunderstandings or being socially awkward.

That's the point. She's uber strong because she's uber stupid.

The only things she thinks she can kill are the monsters and her whole persona is not believing humans can be evil, because she never met anyone evil or who tried to hurt her in her whole life.

She'll probably be "saved" by the brother along with the sister and the misunderstandings will continue. The character "growing up" would defeat the whole premise. It reminds me a bit of "Rai Rai Rai".

The page-turn-reveal power of this manga is absurd. Visual punchlines keep hitting with full force!

Some comments are being critical of how dumb Kinoko is and that's fair, but she's the lead in a comedy about being completely unaware. Is it the fact that a couple people have died already heightens the situation enough that some readers want serious business to go down? Like, I'm cool with this being absurd and silly if it means I get to see the lead being crucified with a smile on her face just because she received forgiveness for a crime she invented in her head. I think it makes her friend's internal monologue even funnier. Watching a powerless person losing their shit as the instant-win button does nothing cracks me up.

I might be biased, but this was one of my favorite page-turners yet.

I totally understand the criticism though. I think the whole thing is building up to Kino and Eiri meeting which should hopefully lead to some more character development on Kino's side. But I might just be overly optimistic too :aquadrink:

There has to be a limit on how much of a dense dumbass you can be. She is so deep in her own little world that she ignores everything else.

It was funny at first but as it went on its becoming annoying. I really think Kino fell head first and rolled down the stairs after being born.

And since this is a major character trait of hers, and one of the main source of comedy in this, I really doubt she is going to learn self awareness.

Calm yourself, take a deep breath, and then exhale.

Some of the comments are too serious. You literally came for this hilarious over the top gag manga, and you expect it to turn serious 9 chapters in? I doubt MC will realize what's going on until the end of the series if we're following the trend of jp series, so don't get your hopes up.

This is hilarious. The axe is probably going to break and the flower monsters teeth is going to shatter.

I wanted her to join the cult (company FTE) and then Eiri Hoshinomiya meets her as a "no rank" cultist instead of #1. I want maximum comedic chaos!

The issue is not us wanting it to turn serious. We are completely fine with it being a comedy manga.

But there has to be a limit on how dumb and dense Kino is. You would think after seeing her friend all tied up and gagged on a cross would give rise to suspicion but she just accepts it.

I get it, its a gag. But it has been going on for a while now. Would've been nice if Kino suddenly went "wait, this doesn't look right" and then started to worry on how to take down the bad guys without killing them. That way we see her develop more awareness and still get to see her overly worried self.

Maybe the author does plan to go that route in the next chapter after she finally realizes it, if thats the case then good, she grew as a character.

But if it just ends with her being rescued and still be under the assumption that it was a "work" related thing and had to be told by her friend on what actually happened? Nah, she's just a complete dumbass at that point. (Let's be real, this is more likely to happen.)

I still have my fingers crossed. I do hope the author makes this a turning point in Kino's character, even if its minor one.

The problem with these “doesn’t realise how OP they are” series is that eventually to keep the gag going the characters have to get dumber and dumber until they are too stupid to breathe

The whole point of Kino's character is that she wants to grow socially as a person.

If the gag of "complete unawareness" is allowed to exist perpetually, even 9 chapters in, with the situation as it is, then her entire professed character arc risks going unfulfilled.

Maybe she'll turn the corner after this event and start learning to pay attention and be more discerning. But there has to be a shift in her mindset, as what is currently transpiring is blatant enough that it stretches credulity that Kino can't pick up on anything being wrong.

Glad that people here feel the same way as me. I had high hopes for the series but dragging its heels in one single specific joke for multiple chapters is a bad sign.

I think this is the reason the "serious" commenters here are wrong.

I'm pretty sure she didn't see her friend, nor any of the other people, dead or alive. She's so happy to be forgiven, that she's smiling all throughout whatever they're doing to her, because in her mind, this is part of the job, ordered directly by the boss.

She went from what she considered a cataclysmic situation to being extremely happy to be forgiven. She didn't pay attention to anything else after that.

Next chapter is where we'll probably see her finally noticing her friend close by.
