An exhibitonist tsundere mage who flashes everytime she casts a spell... Touches of these is why I love neu-Nihei.

I don’t know. I feel like toning down the fan service would open up this work to a wider audience. But at least it’s not a lucky pervert MC like in Sidonia.

I am increasingly impressed with Nihei’s world building though.
Too late, captain already lucky sukebe'd the eyepatch princess.
And I'm pretty sure toning down the fan service would have the opposite effect.

Good thing then this is a author's work and not some cucked-out disney operation ran by suits and board members where you gotta be mindful of possible audience reactions and walk on eggshells.
jokes on you. Nihei's art style has softened greatly and the amount of fanservice has increased every new works exactly because his work doesnt sell so suits and board members demanded changes. He even use mostly varying shades of gray instead of striking black/white contrast as was in blame now because it costs too much ink to print.

"Suits and board members" certainly didn't demand changes. Go and hallucinate elsewhere.

You apparently don't even know how the manga industry is ran. Suits and board members stay out of it, editors can have influence on the content of a manga or what's published, but there is almost no "designed by comittee" manga bacause in the majority of cases it's author owned works and not IPs held by a global corporation who gets hired hands to draw whatever the current board thinks needs to be pushed.

That's a fundamental difference.

I feel like I'm missing a lot of context here. Anyone else here feel super lost while reading this?

This is common for nihei's works. Compared to the average action manga, roughly about one or two in-between panels are missing for one key panel shown.

There are some weird out of place fan service here. You guys have a weird justification for it.

It is fan service, saying that the author's depiction of nude bodies doesnt look like nude bodies is a jab to the artist and not sound reasoning to the argument of if it is a fan service or not or to its presence here. Wether you like it or not its fine either way just dont deny it
Is it really even fanservice? There's no noticeable features, only body outlines. I'd peg it more as a stylistic choice more than fanservice. I'd almost believe they are wearing body suits more than that being their nude bodies.

Crimson-black blaze, king of myriad worlds, though I promulgate the laws of nature, I am the alias of destruction incarnate in accordance with the principles of creation.

Feel free to prove otherwise.
In japan author's own their IP either partially or fully, that's why Shueisha can't just hire another guy to finish hunter x hunter like marvel could.
That's also why the author of gunm could take his manga from publisher to publisher. This isn't marvel or DC who hire goons to draw whatever dumb shit spiderman is up to for 80 years but author owned stories.
There is only a few cases where it's different.
But please go ahead and cite your sources.

The story seems interesting, but the pace is going like a million miles an hour.

Who is MC?
Who are all these other characters?
What is this tower and where did it come from?
Why is the princess so important? They are even willing to make the one that rescues he the next king?

Ofcourse they can still answer all of these things later but I feel like they just want to wrap the story up with this pace.

I will say for the mage, it looked like the full body under garments she was wearing was blown away by the casting of the spell. As for the Princess Captain, it defiantly did look like she was wearing a full body under garment.

Well the females characters are more sexualised than the males. The captain walking in on his superior changing isn’t really something we’d see a gender inverse of, not that it was tastelessly executed. Clothes billowing when firing off a spell was even worse, bad uniform design. Mage girl also feels a tad too close to an archetypical Nihei tsundere, we’ll see.

dunno it may be fanservice but given how spare and ominous the tone and mood of the story is I am not getting horny, it basically just feels like nudity

That's Nihei, everything's on need to know basis.

MC is a farmer, who is strong and good at throwing feed.
Royal knights, duh.
The tower obviously was there for a while, so characters present don't know all the detail themselves.
She can morph into a dragon, her sister can act as a replacement, but she's second grade.

"Why is MC so strong", "who is maintaining the tower and why", "were those panels fanservice" and other minor questions will be answered when the author feels like it.

I really like his new manga. Even all these old tropes are put in such a good use. I am very hyped for the next kino chapter.
