heh, okThanks. I'll avoid this one then.
nope. no reason for it to be an isekai so far either. Is there a reason why it needs to be a guy turn into girl?
Have you found anymore like this? The grim war setting? This is literally manga theme I've been looking for.
So it becomes a PTSD Tanya Saga without the god killing part, so dollar store Tanya?Novel reader here to point out things the manga doesn't explain, or things that you might have missed. Some will sound very stupid but it is what is is
Medics do not have weapons because healing magic is rare.
Before guns were invented some genius decided to make healers into cavalry and failed so horribly that they banned all future medics from arming themselves in fear of losing valuable healers.
MC has not been trained before because she is a volunteer and a medic. Medics stay in the back lines and do not go to the front lines, however because Garback needed a medic MC got sent to the front lines without any prior training until she is transfered into their platoon.
Medics that hasn't seen combat taught MC shield which is why when she utilized it for real combat, it was faulty and and wrong, Garback only taught her afterwards because he had no prior knowledge that she knew how to use shield.
The pro FPS player part becomes relevant way later in the story, where she becomes a little psychotic.
After a lot of time she is no longer a medic and has access to guns, at that point she is an ace that is well known for being a "lucky carry" and laughing maniacally while killing people with scary precision. Did I mention she hear voices telling her to kill?
I don’t think this story is really about realism or what nots, it’s just about “damn, war is brutal” rather than anything. I agree that the pacing and events makes it seem absurd or even cringe in some ways, but it really isn’t about the overall war and strategies, it’s about the experiences of someone who gets caught up in war. After chap 19 this has lost all flair. This was a very realistic manga until chap 19. You see some dum twat of anime danger slut who is 15 btw made a grand plan of advancing an army big enough that could enemy Frontline's 3 defense line, thought it would be a smart idea to attack with magical bombardment beforehand because it is like alerting before an attack.
I can't even start on how dumb this is. Any guy that has even played a strategy game knows why this won't work. But let me explain it in real life terms.
Magical bombardment is artillery equivalent. What is artillery, takedown of important keypoints but more importantly suppressive fire. Suppressive fire is a double meaning word, first it's a firing that suppresses at the same time it suppresses firing from the target. Anyone with one day of war experience would use scout tower. Whose whole job is it to inform enemy flanks. If a scout does not report back consider that flank compromised.
Second is how the march was shown in chap 18.2.That kind of march worked like in 1200s it did not even work at later medieval times with ballistas and trebuchets. I think you already understand but let me elaborate, who does bandit go to rob,a file siege where soldiers are posted in line or a caravan that goes in a straight line.
The army in chap 19 would be detected by a scout kilometers ahead, would be bombardment to scattering because it literally is a line of targets, you cannot miss. As artillery works by radius and not angle.A straight line across an arc is much harder to hit than a line across the radius. That's why trenches were made in such a way in the first place.
Sneak attacks generally work in small guriella team which target the supply line. Which oh saga of Tanya did, didn't they? Many people was calling this much more realistic than Tanya, lol. This sht is as realistic as a unicorn.
When 15 year old skank was shown as a competent commander I already knew the story was going to go downhill so fast that this isn't even a generic "war never changes".This is just a attention seeking boohoo story written by a guy who had never seen the dust of a Frontline, sitting on his ass writing isekais
What disgusts me is both the readers and the author of this sht thinks they are holier than thou because this is rEaLiStIC. Jump on a puddle and calm yourselves down. This ain't better writing than a typical harem isekai. The fan service is just different.
And there isnt any character as OP as in Youji SenkiiSo it becomes a PTSD Tanya Saga without the god killing part, so dollar store Tanya?
Nah, I first thought that officer (Sylph btw) will make the WN worse, I thought she will be a Mary Sue, but surprising she is a very complex and well-written character, not annoying at all. She is a few year older than Touri btw. After chap 19 this has lost all flair. This was a very realistic manga until chap 19. Its precisely because of superiority complex people like you that the author got away with such sloppy writing. "many mangas of " OP idiots with "morals" " gloss over." Brother this manga is just misery porn. There are tons of misery porn out there with different flavours. This isn't doing anything unique nor is it doing anything good. I have already said this, this isn't a bad story, but if you think this is better than run of the mill isekai than thats just your superiority complex of "reading good materials" showing.I don’t think this story is really about realism or what nots, it’s just about “damn, war is brutal” rather than anything. In the novel, the author admits the first arcs was kinda just writing down whatever comes to mind, and it shows. I think the later arcs are pretty interesting though, but even then, it certainly feels a bit mismanaged. Still doesn’t change the fact it’s a brutal but interesting story that depicts a side of war many mangas of “Overpowered idiots with ‘morals’” gloss over.
