I’ve always really wanted to know how scanlation teams obtain uncensored versions. I’ve read some explanations on Reddit saying that they capture live streams, which allows them to get images that haven’t yet been altered or censored. But how is that actually possible?

Although the resolution of Tsugumomo on MangaDex is only 1133 × 1600, even so, I still don’t believe that the original artwork could be restored or modified using just a few frames from a video. Unless Hamada sets the bitrate extremely high, a live stream would inevitably be blurrier than the original images.

Not to mention screentone. Unless a mangaka deliberately uses very large screentone dots, most manga uploaded to the web will, after resolution compression, have their screentone dots transformed from small black dots into gray–white–black mosaics. Because these mosaics follow regular patterns, you can’t simply use automatic fill tools to fix them; you can only rely on clone stamping or manually cutting and pasting those mosaic areas.

For those who have watched Hamada’s live streams, I believe you can all tell that the video quality isn’t very clear. Even if the live stream were captured, I think a lot of screentone detail would be lost. I sincerely hope that a scanlation team can answer this question that has puzzled me for many years. The uncensored versions you upload are simply too perfect. I really want to know how you obtain these images. Are they manually redrawn, or do you truly capture them from live streams?

Yeah, right. In this day and age, a fragile publisher who abhors the "inside" action would swing the banhammer for the "rub" action, too.

Hamada should find another publisher before the current one notices and pulls the plug.

If even Ken Akamatsu's latest publisher allowed him to have his new guy stick his stick in holes...Hamada is on thin ice with this publisher.

I guess you mean “供养”, but that was something Hamada uploaded later to add back the sexual organ details to the censored version of the manga. So the timeline doesn’t really match up. The uncensored versions on MangaDex were clearly released earlier than the “供养” Hamada uploaded himself

Most JP publishers draw the line at displaying full penetration, and anyway it depends on the publisher/magazine. Usually the author negotiates with the editor how far can they go, and this is likely what they settled on.

Also, Akamatsu's latest publisher? The one that tried to take 100% of Negima's creative rights? Let's not.
