pvp build reveal is hype as fuck what a nonsensical build option lmao I hope Elma goes into how you'd beat that build normally in a pvp scenario because that seems like complete bullshit to overcome normally

The manga is based on the light novel, which I believe is further ahead.
It sounded like the author has been working on the light novel for this series and paused all their other work as a result.

They work on a ton of different series, so it makes sense some series will go through slow periods as a result. For a while, the author was focused on the dragon egg series. Now they are focused on this heavy knight series.

The web novel and light novel slowed down production roughly around the time the manga started publishing. This fight is actually the end of the 3rd volume and only 3 have been published so far with the last volume releasing in February of this year.

Some have theorized that Nekoko decided to go all in on the manga version of the story when it got picked up by Young Magazine Web and it looks like the story is going to continue beyond the novel version considering that it is now being published in Young Magazine.

God that fight was so hyped & my anxiety was rising. I absolutely love the team coordination between them & although I did have suspend my disbelief on how Elma was able to plan in advance a counter to such an obscure build. It makes sense that the title Kalos had gave it away but at the same time Elma has been thinking about the possibility of another player character being involved in this world. One more thing to note: I feel bad for Hilde because she won't believe her mentor was evil & I wouldn't blame her for accusing Elma for murdering him. Thanks for the translations.

And then (imagine) plot twist… she was the true mastermind.

Think the perception of it being a pain build comes from the Necklace of Torment. More so it's description states the wearer will be tormented by the echoes of the souls trapped within. So while it's not truely a build focused around pain, the description is not entirely false either.

That's a stretch given the other commenter was treating it as physical pain, not "these ghosts won't shut the fuck up pain".

Like me seeing shadow men out of the edge of my vision is a form of torment but thats not a pain like being stabbed through the chest is.

The one thing I hate is that he stops to monologue after being stabbed, instead of swinging his ALREADY RAISED sword at the guy who's busy driving a sword through his chest. Like you have the perfect chance to take him down with you, but instead you go "But how? I'm supposed to be OP tho? U scrubs shouldn't have been able to beat my meta PVP build!"

Life ain't a game, you don't despawn/ragdoll as soon as you take a fatal hit. You can still fcking finish swinging a sword. People have been known to continue fighting for a few minutes while impaled by multiple spears - that's an extreme case, I know, but someone whose fighting style relies on being in constant pain should be used to pain enough that they don't freeze up as soon as they're stabbed.

The feeling of “strength leaving you” is real your body literally DOES get weaker when something like that happens because it’s damage to muscles and (in this case most likely) the diaphragm, meaning he can maybe get one weakened shot in, he won’t be able to breath anymore

I hope Studio GoHands will give this one justice. They usually start things pretty well but make some not-so-good choices down the road in making their animes (they are almost as bad as Studio Millepensee).

Haven't seen any whining, but if people wonder "why didn't he just dodge" it's ego. At this point he's taken arrows from Celt and just thrown them aside. Kalos was not isekaied, he was given info from someone in the same situation as Elma. He got told how to make a scummy PVP build but didn't know what counters existed

I know it's probably a little late for me to be saying this, but judging from the trailer, they've already screwed up big time. Plenty of 2D characters sliding around on a CG backdrop and horrendous view angles.

Oof, I saw that they are also sticking to their 'homemade' art style. Can't say I'm surprised - I mean honestly, the only good anime they made recently is only the 1st episode of the SukiMega anime adaptation, IMO
