Can't wait to see the fallout of this encounter. How's everyone else going to react to this twink having been the bad guy (actually minion)? Will Celt be fine after that horrible burn? Will Luce be fine? What about the dungeon boss that's conveniently been missing?

Also, hell yeah anime adaptation. Let's hope it gets the quality it deserves and isn't another generic throwaway adaptation.

Damn, what a fight. I'd assume it was a bullshit pvp meta cause unless you were gimped cleric that had some physical investment it was an instant loss for any other class, other than cycling dodges and movement. Which would also be countered by the homing projectiles, if a game had that in 1v1 pvp that'd be the end of it

You might also be able to burst down the build to effectively " 1 shot " with a combo.
Rouge or mage build would probably work, might require some CC to prevent stalling tho.

But I'm worried now, we're literally at the last translated chapter of the WN (though I saw that the author released 4 new chapters last month).
With the change to a weekly magazine, maybe the author will finally start reworking seriously on the story?
I hope it doesn't drop in quality though...
Or that the manga will just do its own thing from now on.

The manga is based on the light novel, which I believe is further ahead.
It sounded like the author has been working on the light novel for this series and paused all their other work as a result.

They work on a ton of different series, so it makes sense some series will go through slow periods as a result. For a while, the author was focused on the dragon egg series. Now they are focused on this heavy knight series.

Here's my only issue, I wish the skill usage was foreshadowed earlier in the series. Poison Protect would've been better off being learned when Mabel helped defeat the Skeleton-horse Boss. Kelt has never been shown to have enchanted arrows to my knowledge (let alone their existence at all), and THAT could've been revealed sometime in the dungeon here. Then it would've been a fantastic pay off to these tiny set ups. The Mabel set up with Poison Protect was painful, since Elma was avoiding saying the name the entire fucking time. Elma censored his own thoughts for the readers, bravo main character.


A majority of the fights in the series have come down to a character learning a brand new skill mid-combat and then using said skill to win the fight. One that I didn't have a problem with was our Clown getting the new Skill to do omega-DPS vs the Bird thing, that just felt like a flavor change. I was really hoping Mabel's skill wouldn't be the game-winner but here we are.

Ok you know what, I should've expected that. A massive buff triggered by poison? Just stop the poison lmao. This fight was hype af and I'm in love with this party dynamic.

They couldn't just stop the poison after he scattered them around the arena, the sword would just refresh it, so they had to contrive a reason for the healer to be near the archer to enchant the poison protection on the arrow, to cure and continually block it at least long enough to finish it.

I love nekokos work and if you followed him for long enough you can tell its him, a lot of the fights he does are won by advantages in information, outsmarting an opponent, using their own attacks against them and a lot of planning.

It's a poison status build, not a pain build. There's no mention of "pain" anywhere.
He uses a skill that reverses poison damage into healing, the collar doubles poison damage, the sword gives poisoned state.
He also has HP -> MP and extra HP, MP and Def. So the build essentially out heals incoming damage and gives constant MP regen.

As for why he doesn't just swing, dude's stabbed through his sternum or solar plexus. There's a few places on the body where if you get hit or stabbed the shock of it prevents you from doing anything.

Kidney, Liver, solar plexus or sternum are most well known and taught in various martial and combat systems as a place to aim for.
Look at Elma's sword and where it got stabbed into.

Think the perception of it being a pain build comes from the Necklace of Torment. More so it's description states the wearer will be tormented by the echoes of the souls trapped within. So while it's not truely a build focused around pain, the description is not entirely false either.

Well, the healer was the first person to come to my mind when I read that mf got poison build
"Oh, poison? Exactly why we got that healer, right?" And I'm glad that it went with a combo attack from her and Celt. PvP build? Poor bozo getting a fully sync party as his opponent
