Uhm, about that... Pretty sure you're on the ball there, lol.

Anyways, Soseki Scans: Root ain't a they/them non-binary, like Tomoe called him. When he's male, he's a he. When he's female, he's a she (he used here because his current state is male). He can switch at will, similar to those fish and snails and such that can alter their biology fully to match what is needed in a given situation (except he does it consciously, not relying on pheromones and autonomous biological systems).

It may be more accurate to say that when she's male she's a he, and when she's female she's a she. She can change her biology when appearing hyuman, but she's a female dragon, just like Tomoe. Hence Tomoe asking her why she's male, as well as the look of disgust they all give her after realizing why she did, which was purely just to have different sexual experiences. The joke is that she's a sexual deviant. That's it. That's all it is. People often forget that the genderbender trope has long been a staple of Japanese manga/anime, or are just so used to [current year] that they assume everything somehow relates to or should relate to western gender ideology.

As a bi man I get what he's talking about, something about banging another man is just exhilarating dominating a woman in bed is one thing but dominating your physical equal, or better yet your physical superior, there are just no words to describe the feeling. Root is my spirit animal.
We're really returning to ancient Greek/Roman views on sex

No, because even the dragon form can be altered not just the human shell taken, assuming Root was not lying about that transformation of his.

Also, the only "western gender ideology" bit was Tomoe referring to Root as "them" in Soseki Scans' translation, here, which is what I was addressing, nothing more; I enjoy the sexual deviancy and jokes in that regard otherwise. Unless you're addressing that to someone else in the comments but not separating it in your reply directed at me?

so no one is going to mention his experiment torture lab? they all seem to just focus on him being the guild leader and him attacking lime...
I think it's on the previous chapter. It's not his lab, it's belong to completely different organization where the librarian girl join in. Their timing just coincidence. I think they can't capture lime if root didn't fight him. ( So far, they are only hyuman level strong which mean they are nothing) iirc they are the one who experimenting with makoto fruit as well

i wish the wanting to return trope would die i mean he should know earths god is asleep now and the time scale seems wonky i bet even if he did it would be at some random point in time
it's pretty clear that the time difference would make it so that he shows up a couple weeks to a couple of months after he was summoned depending on how many years it takes him. lets say root's first husband was summoned in the late 80s to early 90s on earth and that was 1000 years ago on this planet, that would mean that it takes about 1000 years for anywhere between 19~25 years to pass on earth. makoto would really not have missed much of anything if he does return back to earth even if he spends another 10 years before figuring out how. btw i'm using the year 2012 as the year makoto was summoned since that's when the novel started. the fact this is from 2012 makes your hatred of the return trope pretty funny since that was way before that trope got popularized.

It's probably something like 30 years on that world is only 1 year on Earth. That would put 1,000 years (33 Earth years) around the 1990s, which is when the Super Nintendo/Famicom was out and 16bit RPGs were popular in Japan.

Also that would mean that Makoto's entire Isekai adventure so far has only taken place the same morning that he left Eatth.
actually this story starts off sometime around 2011~2013 since the original novel first started in 2012 and the official light novel in 2013. the 1000 years is actually only about 19 to 25 years.

edit: after some probably somewhat inaccurate math, the time difference is about 9 days on earth for every year he spends there.
