Ok my guess is Riku probably has his chronic injury come back up and can no longer play... or something. Idk, doubt it even matters.
Is it too late to ask for an Oregairu angle at this point? (you know... the tennis scene)

There are a lot of overlapping similarities between Ueno and Riku and I wonder if people have noticed.

Manaka's breakup essentially came due to the fact that Riku kept making changes that she didn't like, and said that it doesn't suit him.
Things like ear piercings, and his attitude. And by some twist of fate. These are the characteristics that Ueno does no possess.
Their hair is the same, their overall frame is strikingly similar (unless this is artist's limitations, which i can't blame)
I wonder if Manako is just using Ueno as a way to fill the emptiness she has, which is pretty much before Riku started making radical changes in his personality and apperance.

That seems to be the revolving theme with Manaka and Riku. Emptiness

Either way, I really hope Ueno wins (simply because I fail to see any development in any other outcome)
I feel like, to some extent, Riku deserves some kind of redemption, for what its worth, he is very similar to Ueno. He lost something clearly important to him, and he's desperately trying to fill the void in his heart. By fucking women.... yeah... sigh

I kind of WANT to respect Riku, but its so damn hard. I kinda wish the author gave him a bit more depth. At least for the sake of having SOME dignity, but he literally just seems like a random emo who gets women. Which is really shallow
I don't know how to say it, but it just comes across more as an insult to Manaka, as a character, and the idea that she would ever be romantically interested in such a shallow guy just makes her look both desperate and pathetic
Whereas, if Riku had a bit more complexity to him, at least to a degree where he's worth respecting, it would've reflected off Manaka a bit more.

But overall, I just feel like Manaka's worth as a character is dropping rapidly, and its not even her fault :<

Regardless of who wins, if Manaka has such low agency of herself that she goes along with the contest's demand like a trophy, then she does not deserve to be the star of this romance.

I wouldn't call a contest with her as a trophy, at least not for Ueno.
Ueno wants for the other guy to stop taking advantage of an emotionally confused Manaka and let her walk away from their past.

Ueno would like to be with Manaka, but he also is man enough to let her ho if she says no. The other guy just isn't taking no for an answer.

I find it really funny how people get so disgusted and put off by NTR, but are somehow not bothered as much with the first 20 chapters where a kid just gets bullied and tortured non stop
Most of my dislike of ntr comes from how often its lazily written with a guy able to use his magic dick to rape a woman's agency away.

Not to mention how often the guy doing the ntr is just a surface level plot device.

With that in mind, I actually kinda of like that this dork has a backstory, even if it feels a bit goofy at times.

Honestly I found the discussion of those chapters pretty fascinating. Lots of “yeah, but he clearly is enjoying it deep down” type comments and so on...

Now swap the genders and make it a bunch of guys doing stuff like that to a girl. I can guarantee you that the comments will instead be calling for the bullies to die painful deaths and for the victim to be helped.

These narratives for these bullies keep changing and now the readers are meant to be cheering them on in some cases… it’s like they think we’re stupid or something

I'm loving the beautiful symbolism of this chapter. The hit tennis ball symbolizes the sperm shot out by each male character in trying to impregnate Manaka but the other male stops the sperm from impregnating, symbolized by hitting the enemy sperm with their tennis racket.

Ueno already won, no matter the result. He already earned the respect of Chisaki (and probably the other two as well), Manaka is going to be even more hot for him.

And they are 5-4 but game 4 is 40-15 in favor of Ueno, so it'll likely end up being decided by tiebreak with Ueno having an edge in stamina.

This manga is going interesting places.

Ueno is not breaking a sweat. Well, after how he has been developed by Chisaki and the gang, I think he has gained some perk and recently a much stronger mental. And Chisaki just give him the order to not lose too. Can't deceive her after all too.

Love how Chisaki just gained new underlings after beating their asses.

Funny that Riku is in fact chasing after his youth and Manaka is just a mean to. So selfish.
By taking back Manaka, he think he'll get another chance to make thing right for him and go back to a state where he didn't felt empty like in the previous chapters. This scum :lul:
Thanks for the tl
No matter win or lose Ueno still get reward from 3 bully but if he win he gain Riku respect and manaka free from riku other problem manaka not deserve Ueno she belong to street Tsubomi best

Keep up the good work, mate.

Sheesh, don't mess with Chisaki...

And Riku with a change of heart in wanting a pure relationship with Moka again? Even if it was a genuine change, I doubt he will be able to resist going back to his cheating ways...

Besides that, Ueno may be losing but he's not exhausted. It looks like he can win the war of attrition against Riku. That, and maybe Riku will over-extend himself during the final push to beat Ueno, injuring himself again in the process. If that happens + with some sweet talk how he's trying to change for Moka, it might cause Moka to relapse, which will be devastating. We'll see.
Don’t even breathe the evil of her relapsing back to him.

This manga is peak (trash) because it does exactly that and even says "Well she liked it" when the ex bf just kisses manaka and the rapey girls start realizing they're no better than him

So when people start freaking out about NTR i'm just like, have you guys been paying attention to the story at all? there's way worse things than just some NTR
