Let's say that's the case, these are just showing a path not taken. What is being shown? Ueno is happy. That begs the question: "Why show that?" All the author has done is shown that Ueno had a ~67% chance of making the right choice and failed. Perhaps the author will go that route, but like I said I'm still giving the author the benefit of the doubt. They have shown that they've been better than that. That goes for Riku as well. How many times does he need to be rejected to be "defeated for good"? The author brought him back for a reason. Likewise, resolving such a major issue as the MC finding happiness in a time-skip or a sudden epiphany is very subpar.I dunno, it's certainly interesting to think about but I don't think it's going down that route, I think these what if-scenes are just that what if, what if Ueno took a different path, I think all that's gonna happen next is Ueno and Kanako bumping into each other, having their talk, then their what if scene, then Riku comes back for round 3, gets defeated for good, cue timeskip or whatever and series ends.
