Face reaction manga, drink each time Noel and eito make the exact same faces every fucking chapter.

I'm here hoping neither of them win with how selfish they are and wish Kei their own happiness.

once again can't stand Noel like seriously what's her problem? feels like she's one bad day away from going full yandere
Noel's sudden turn towards possessiveness of Kei is currently the only interesting thing in the series. We have had 5 Volumes of Eito making the same stupid face and Kei going "Maybe I am a good girl! No wait I am weak now... poor me"

Something needs to happen, even the shock of Kei turning back into a guy went a grand total of nowhere.

I can’t lie I started this because of the girls love tag kinda bums me out that it’s up in the air where it’s going. Almost seems like the want to end it with the two friends dating him. I just wanted some yuri lol just noticed they took the tag off? Am I gonna read this whole thing just for it to be yaoi instead lol

honestly i dont think noel is that bad. she’s possessive and kind of hates eito, but thats just a (honestly reasonable) reaction to eito socially isolating kei for years and almost completely destroying the previously normal friendship between kei and noel.

if she werent handling this with middle schooler level communication skills, she’d just be the reasonable third party trying to help kei get away from their abusive “best friend”.

like, if both noel and eito could just talk clearly to kei, eito would be “i want to keep you to myself forever and force you to fit into my image of you. including physical change against your will”

meanwhile noel’s would be “i want to keep you the fuck away from him and for us to be friends again like how we used to be before he destroyed it”

no i agree that it's one of the interesting parts of the story, but that doesn't mean i have to like her or Eito for that maner. i mostly just feel kinda bad for Kei getting tossed around based on their whims

Personally, I view Kei as the one character genuinely holding this romance story together. Sure they (I am not going to even try to figure out Kei's gender) are in a lot of ways your stereotypically dense protagonist with two love interests, with the whole genderswap magi on top of that, but neither of those are what makes Kei such a unique protagonist.

Whereas Noel and Eito both have made it abundantly clear their wish is to monopolize Kei for themselves, Kei has their own wish, a wish just as strong as the others that they are willing to work towards with full dedication: bringing all three of the trio back together as friends once again.

It's a really interesting change from your typical love triangle, because it means Kei actually is the main antagonist for all romance progression as their efforts to bring Noel and Eito together tens to push against whichever of them is currently in the lead.

Ok I take it back, stand by and stare holes through people
I was more referring to her efforts in getting Kei into the play and then spending time in all that rehearsing.

After all, she was basically sidelined the moment they grew past primary school age because "boys and girls can't play together anymore", and was forced to watch Eito monopolize Kei from afar. Only recently has it been "permissable" for her to interact with her best friend from childhood, but she's still going to have those years of forced distance muscle memory to work through and actually act.

Before, all she could do was glare from afar. She feels strongly about Eito still getting in her way, but she is now starting to put herself forward in engaging with him.

This feels like the kind of thing where the trainwreck is interesting to watch but the ending is not going to be pleasant. After 30 chapters of death stares between love rivals, this is going to get ugly

It’s like she just expects to stand by and do nothing and still win somehow
Throughout this entire series Noel is the one being proactive. She asserts herself, actively tries to get closer to Kei both physically and emotionally, and pushes Kei to do new stuff with her. Especially lately. How the heck did you interpret a chapter where she literally, physically comes between Kei and Eito and drags Kei off to a play where she is going to kiss her (which she arranged and encouraged herself, even) as "stand by and do nothing."

Moreso compared to Eito who is just maintaining status quo and doing nothing else but looking sad.
