Something happened to mangadex update feed. It only shows 1 manga for me, despite having a large number of them in my library.

The site is getting flooded with titles containing hundreds of chapters from one "power uploader", and I'm guessing each screenful (i.e. what the site shows when you click 1, 2, 3, etc to advance to the next batch) is limited to X number of chapters per screenful rather than X number of titles.

If the most recent 400 chapters within the last few minutes are all for ABC manga, then the only thing on the top =400/X many screens will be ABC manga. You can sorta get around it for any given title by just continuing to advance to the next batch until you get through them all, but then you run into the next 300-chapter title that they uploaded.

Edit: On the bright side, it looks like either they've stopped for now or they've been stopped. But they're up to 20,021 chapters uploaded, and it looks like they may be specializing in uploading published content taken straight off of publishers' sites.

I unfollowed the mangas where the user T10_ is uploading. The upload feed works normal again.

Followed again and hope the mass uploads stop after today. ^^ So the system isnt broken, just badly programmed to evade mass uploads. Not that I have any knowledge about how to do it better, but I still see the results. :)

The chapters I peeked at include all the original copyright notations, and aren't even scans or translations -- they appear to be very obviously pulled straight from a publisher's English-language server.

The original notice from the raws is not a sign of a chapter being the official translation.
If that were the case, then there would be no chapters on MangaDex.
A notice by e.g. the English publisher is another story though.

If you still think that a chapter is an official translation, please report it.
PS: if you want to report multiple chapters, you can just report the manga and specify which chapters you mean.

No thank you. Trying to edit Wikipedia long, long ago already taught me not to let my ego (or anyone else) taunt me into fighting one-by-one battles no one could win.

But if anyone is curious, here's an example of untouched image quality (and uploading ~at least~ a thousand chapters in a single day—over 20,000 total) that is obviously the result of a self-described "Small Scanlation Group"'s tireless work.
https://mangadex.org/chapter/c3b7c129-56fb-45a1-b6cf-453814719628

Not the de-rigueur "READ ON [recently-registered] LUMINOUSSCANS.COM" token page at the end, but the entirety of the chapter and the last manhwa page. Which was obviously painstakingly translated (and the special effects in the text of the name recreated) because readers demand it. Compare the last manhwa page to the same chapter, released 2 years ago from the raw by another group: https://mangadex.org/chapter/efe628bd-dd09-40d5-b1ef-234f671db432

Directly below the translated section you're referring to - do you legitimately believe an English publisher would leave a giant block of Korean text alone?

Also, there's no official English release for Volcanic Age, which makes it fairly hard to steal.

Your only burden of proof is
1. which chapters
2. what official translation by which publisher

Any site reports that are made on the forum will be (at least in most cases) ignored. It's really not that complex.

I think you're confusing something. Groups can decide what is uploaded to MD. In this case, they worked multiple years on the chapters and allowed me to upload the chapters starting yesterday.
See https://www.mangaupdates.com/group/jufm30w/luminous?page=1&perpage=100
uploading ~at least~ a thousand chapters in a single day—over 20,000 total
I think you're misunderstanding something. The 1.7k chapters is from the group. The 20k uploads is from me, the uploader.
I've been uploading chapters for the last 2 years, so it's really not that mind blowing to get to 20k.
[recently-registered] LUMINOUSSCANS.COM
The domain was registered in 2021

I think you're simply having a culture shock right now. Something along the lines of:
"There is no way that a manhwa scanlator exists that puts effort into their fan translation" :pacman:

Is it worrisome for a self-described "Small Scanlation Group" to upload ~at least~ a thousand chapters in a single day
No. It's normal and it happens once in every while.
I think your head is going to explode when you see the upload sessions that Martial Peak had ~2y ago.
over 20,000 total
that's my personal upload count
that look suspiciously like they were ripped straight from a manhwa publisher's English-language site
The group leader was very pleased by your praise and is happy that the effort actually makes a difference.
If my concern for the site is misguided, that would be great news… but I'm not sure where else to safely post this concern.
Use the report function on the main site.

And finally, I just want to let you know that if you're trolling you're doing a great job and I was very entertained :pacman:

I'm amazed that from a one line post that started the thread it has already become this large and even derailed from the initial question. My recommendation is setting at maximum items per page so even when a single series gets updated with a ton of chapters you don't need to move many pages to see something else, and if you notice a particular language or group is filling all the pages to the point you can't find other manga at least temporarily block it. This can happen periodically if you don't filter anything, so keeping only the original languages you're interested in and the ones you want to read on a regular basis is your safest bid. In addition to that, I also block groups such as INKR comics because I don't need extra publicity from series I already know and I can read without leaving MangaDex.

I'm not sure how it wasn't pointed out yet that the person being accused of uploading official rips is an actual MangaDex staff member — not that that would absolve them of blame if the accusation was correct, more that I personally wouldn't be expecting a staff member to so blatantly risk being kicked the fuck out if they actually were breaking the number one rule on the site. :worry:
