Same started happening to me today.
The first 4 pages of updates only have 3-4 chapters but it goes back to normal at page 5 onwards.
Also in my case the 3 chapters that show up on the first 4 update pages are Bisque Doll chapters by Manga UP

Check to see if you have the 'show all' at the bottom of a title's grouping:

If so, clicking that will expand it to the full set of chapters that the page is returning for that title:

By default, the updates page shows 32 chapters; since I also have other titles showing up on mine I'm not seeing 32 chapters of Bisque Doll.

Same bug with 'updates". It's showing only 1-4 titles on every page and half of them are repetition from previous pages.

Can't believe I missed that.
That explains it, thank you.

Still this does not fix that only 2 - 3 Mangas are shown in the Update list but now over 100 Pages and some of thos have 1/2/3 or max 4 Mangas in them and some are the previus ones (from a page before) and then thos with Older Updates (3-4 Days Ago).. Something broke there, last week everything was fine for me an i could see all my Updatet Mangas at once regardles of Update Time. :/

This seems like a terrible change. "Shikkaku-mon no Saikyou Kenja ~Sekai Saikyou no Kenja ga Sarani Tsuyoku Naru Tame ni Tensei Shimashita~" was updated this week with 109 chapters in multiple parts in 5 days. This has it on every page for 17 pages showing at most 2 manga and on some page just it. This is terrible design and ux.

same issue here. First time it happened a few weeks ago with only one title (the same one) showing up on the first 3 or 4 pages. Issue persisted for a few days until I deleted said title and the updates list went back to normal, now another title screwed the list over and it's showing on multiple pages. Yesterday only the one manga showed on the first few pages of the list, today it's that manga and something else but even after a few pages it's still just a few titles per page, only at page 5 does it stop showing up...

@edit
Just understood the explanation above about the chapter limit... That's a really bad change indeed. I don't really understand why some mangas receive a dump of reuploaded chapters at once but it's not really that uncommon, more so when I have hundreds of titles on the follows list. Is there a way to apply that limit to titles instead of chapters? A worse solution would be for uploaders to flag chapters as "old" or "reuploaded" so this does'nt happen.

No, because the feed tries to retrieve, sort and limit the page result by chapters. Collating the chapters that are returned for a given page by title is just a frontend feature to make the search result read easier. While it is technically possible to do things by title, it's going to be a very expensive operation (and that while the feed API call is already the most expensive call MangaDex has), so you can't expect that to happen.

There's still a "planned" suggestion that's been open for years by now to allow for silent uploading, but that would only affect the recent updates section on the homepage. Outside of that, there has been talk about being allowed to set the publishing date in the past, but I think that's even further away from development...

Either way, the massive upload spam is long over by now. If you're concerned about not being able to find the chapters you might have missed due to the flood of official publisher chapters or you just don't want this to be an issue in the future, I suggest trying to block the account that the bot uses to remove the official publisher chapters throughout the site.

If you're interested in checking out the official publisher chapters, then you can always remove the block whenever you don't need it anymore and reapply it whenever needed.
