Wow, this is a pretty mindfuck chapter. So it definitely looks like things have changed, but how significant are the changes? Did reality get altered or did they go to a completely different universe?

I guess we'll see what happens after this.

Since their wages were there, either the universe itself was altered with no swap involved or they swapped places with other versions of themselves that just went through the same thing so ironically, switching universes has little to no consequences for anyone involved.
But we know the other version of themselves in this universe, does not work at the train station , and that platform 13 doesn't exist here

So how did they get the wages?

How’s this for a theory:

The world is as is, but she was the one who got changed slightly (or rather, her perception of things around her). Something like, if someone got brain damage, their taste buds might change slightly and their favorite flavors then change. In this case, her processing of things she saw (the signs) and the sibling interactions were affected.

It is not known whether it’s permanent, or whether it affects everything she perceives everywhere or just locally around the station. Based on how the story typically rolls, we can probably assume the effect is temporary and/or local to her perception on that area.

For the station worker, it could be that he lied, because he thought no one would return (if they did, he might simply assume they’re not the same thing) and the rule to dealing with the things beyond is to not deal with them, so he promptly send them away.

That should explain the bizarre inconsistencies and the fact they still got paid.

And, I’m wrong. :ROFLMAO:

That part is just the classic 'Haunted place that suddenly never existed', their other versions in the original universe probably got the same treatment.

Or there was no swap and it's just the universe itself that changed a bit because they somehow broke the train curse by managing to leave it.

Ah fuk ur right. Weird thing is it suggests reality was altered slightly rather than them traveling to a different universe because if it was a completely different verse with no platform 13 then their wages wouldn't be there in the first place.

I'm not sure why there is confusion about where they got their wages. They got paid in advance. So they got them in the other universe.

People coming up with theories about a different universe or the brother's haircut changing... the brother's haircut seems to mirror itself on the same page that he's introduced, this mangaka has a poor grasp of staying on-model. I don't mind it overly much (they rely on different hairstyles to distinguish between characters), but it does make it hard to tell designs apart, and it means you can't really rely on stuff like "this person looks like a different person in profile" or such continuity errors to make judgements.

The thing that says they swapped to an alternate universe is the fact that they said, in the manga, "we are in a different universe now" (well they didn't literally say that... but you get the point). We'll see how they handle it, whether we have a coming-back arc or not. I don't really mind all too much either way.
