Probably one of the scariest arcs so far, like they're always at the very least together, so an entire chapter of Hama being alone without Yume's nose to guide her. And then the reveal that she's trapped in the illusion and Yume manages to save her by literally just thinking "what would Hama do, what would she notice, how would she solve this mess"

It's a really strong arc to show how much they've been through and how much not just Hama but Yume can rely on her partner too.

did they seriously kill a god?

is this foreshadowing that yume and hama will finally be able to take an active role to stop atrocities and avenge their friends rather than simply escaping with their lives every job?

More like there never was a village...the God just made the villagers and made them think they've been icing people when really, they're just pawns, a plaything..
nah, god didnt make the villagers, thats the girls realization at the end. the villagers were real people before, thought they were using the god, but it turns out the god had turned them into ice people/killed them ages ago and they didnt realize they were omae wa mo shindeiru

So this arc was about a village that was cursing people for hire using a god's power to ice them (literally) but it turns out the village and everyone in it were the ones that had already been iced but they didn't know it, and when Yume burned the shrine, the god decided it had enough playing around and melted the villagers.

Welp.

no i think yume killed the god so when the god died, so did its powers and whatever it created with its powers.

Yeap that's creepy. Also Ooya needs to be a recurring character for real. Her realization when Yume found out about her smell (anybody else thought she's part of the village when Yume said that?) of smoke is adorable lol

So a village started worshipping a god a long time ago, using the god's power to assassinate people in exchange for sacrifices. At some point, or maybe over time, it preyed on them as well, until eventually it was perpetuating the illusion of a village, made out of snow. Even the illusory villagers believe they are real. And interestingly, it didn't actually control its illusions. They worshipped the god because they chose to for the benefits. We know it doesn't control them because the girl actively works against it, and her father did as well and was killed by the villagers for it. I don't even think it can selectively kill one of them, or else it wouldn't keep the unruly ones around. They appear to be able to have kids and age and die normally. So maybe illusion isn't the right word for it. They are real people made of snow, kept real by the god's power.
