I prefer Sieglinde for the friend, it feels a bit more authentically faux-German than the other version.

If you are planning to eventually continue this series, I would recommend dialing back the TL notes, or better yet just append them to the credits page. They disrupt the flow of reading and unless they offer really important context that would otherwise render a line unreadable, there's no need to keep them on the same page.

I didn't notice it before, because the other TL used Ziegline Floyd for her name, but her name Sieglinde Floid... seems awfully inspired by the name, Sigmund Freud. Like maybe the author was grasping at straws for another vaguely German-sounding name, opened a page listing famous Austrian/German people, and picked Sigmund Freud as inspiration. It doesn't help that she's a researcher/scientist...

I'm not sure about other countries, but in the US, "Alma Mater" is a very normal word, not stupid. It can refer to either the high school or the college that you graduated from. It also refers to the school anthem.

I've heard Brits use the term, but it was here in the US, so they may have been adapting their English for American ears.

I'm curious what other English speaking countries call this, if not "Alma Mater".
