Chapter 60, his debut chapter, established that he actively kept MC's mother from ever taking to him so he could spend all his time having sex and being looked after by her, never informing MC of even having another child. If this series weren't a lighthearted comedy, MC's mother would've filed for divorce in that chapter the moment she found out what he'd done.
Please elaborate how thinking he's a horrible person, which both his son and wife have said multiple times, is irrational.
No, this isn't me being facetious and argumentative, I actually am intrigued by this.
It’s because nothing bout that scenario that many cite as their main reason for hating him makes any sense whatsoever or at the very least not enough that he’s the one that should get all the blame for it. 2 years is far too much time for him by himself to pull the wool over everyone and Shinichi not to find out. Even if we’re told he ran interference between him calling home or mum wanting to call him, 2 years offer too many opportunities for it have come crashing down. At best everyone is an idiot and at worst his mother and the rest of his family needs to be in firing line with his dad. She was told repeatedly that her son wasn’t coming home cuz he was too busy with college life (mind you never directly from Shinichi himself) and as such has missed both of his sister birthdays amongst other celebrations. For that scenario to make any sense it would mean she just accepted that her son (who she thought was aware of his sister’s existence) was somehow too busy to ever visit for 2 whole years at face value. No follow up on her end, no baby pictures she could‘ve sent, nothing? She just let it slide. And then there’s Shinichi himself, the moment you recall there’s actually nothing stopping him from just visiting on his own accord, that’s just another piece that adds to this dumb puzzle, cuz what excuse could his dad possibly have given him that would convince him not to come home and never raise any suspicion for 2 years. Then there’s possibility of extended family. At the very least his maternal grandparents should still be around, they never told him or brought it up, again, for 2 years?!
I’m glad that you said this is a light hearted comedy cuz it further adds to my point of this making no sense cuz you can say the gag this whole thing was supposed to be was terrible or not funny and leave it at that but this level of vitriol doesn’t add up (at least in my eyes) cuz if you think he’s horrible, fine but in equal measure, everyone else is an idiot or also horrible to a lesser extent.
