I don't like slave's root, not one bit, and here's why:

1) they are both pretending

FL doesn't give two shits about him as a person, for he's just the easiest tool to get home. And in the novel we'll see that

Eklis himself is shady as fuck, pretends to be obedient while clearly not being ok with this turn of events. Gives off awful vibes,

Even if his affection is easier to raise, it's mostly lies on both sides.

2) proper relationships are born of equals, which they are not

A disgraced noble degraded to a slave and his master are different not only in status. One is in a position of power towards the other, and that's a big no-no for healthy relationships.

So if we don't count the slave and the siblings (no incest in my house, in any form, plus they are little shits), we're left with just the magician and the crown prince. And with how the novel portrays them later,
