It started with just one video... I was bored and clicked it out of curiosity.

"Heh. That's funny." My words preceded my thoughts.

One after another, YouTube kept recomending me more and more Vtuber translated clips. Oh how far down does this eternal abyss reach?

Anyways, I'm pretty sure that the reason YouTube began to recommend me Vtubers is cause it knows that I like watching anime and ARG content on YouTube which ends up with it recommending me Hatoba Tsugu's channel. You can see why. Then from then on came the band aid vid which really got the ball rolling. So basically I unknowingly dug myself into this hole the moment I became a weeb, so, nice.

Right now, a fourth of my daily subscription consists of translated Vtuber clips, most of them under 5 mins with the rare few that extends over 10. I am able to recognize 30-40 Vtubers as if they are Pokemons and I'm hunting down any translation channel YouTube can recommend me so...

Though I watched Kizuna Ai before, for me it really started with Shizuka Rin https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6oDys1BGgBsIC3WhG1BovQ (avatar might be related). How I got to know about the channel isnt all too important its hentai, but watching some videos of her really changed my mind about Vtubers, in that I always thought, they were putting a show on, with their over-the-top personalities and always being hype. But watching her, it felt like, she just wanted to casually play some games and have the stream on beside that, casually speaking with the viewers. It felt more like what you would expect from a western streamer/letsplayer (at least those, that I watch), more genuine. So though I dont like every game she plays, I enjoy her streams quite a bit. It also helps with learning Japanese, so thats good, I guess.

@Garakuta wth you're descending the abyss a lot slower than I am, or have I been rocketing downwards this entire time?

Also, I feel like Vtubers who edits their videos are fundamentally different from those who livestreams. My best guess is that the people behind the characters can't keep up their characters all the time when they livestream and so as time goes on, their character changes to fit their real personalities which makes them feel really genuine. Well, either that or their real personalities become their characters lol.

On a related note, I'm seriously into Nijisanji's anthem. I don't usually like anthems cause they are usually made for the sake of being made but this one sounds so good. The melody is catchy, all the voices are practically forming a choir at this point. Then I realized that it was made by Kz and all my questions are instantly answered.

Maybe I am kinda slow, but there are so many Vtubers and I dont really know who I should even check out. Like, they are getting more and more popular, and it feels like theres a new one every week. I wonder how this whole scene will adapt over time. Anyways, I guess, I should watch more of those best-of scenes.
The songs isnt bad, but it feels kinda cheesy, when you think about how they are usually in their streams (at least those, that I have watched).

@Garakuta Just watch some clips and let the algorithm do the searching. Tho a lot of clips are just Hololive and Nijisanji so you'll probably not get the whole experience by doing this, granted, those two are probably the two most popular groups so you'd get most of said experience. And it's also a pretty good way to dive into the past without getting lost and to know the inside jokes of each Vtubers.

Here's your ticket of no-return just set it on shuffle or something and half your recomendations will be Vtuber streams and clips.

Barely watch any vtubers ever since game-bu old members retirement. Vtubers that I still see these days pretty much just Omesis, Hololive anime, and Nobuhime.

Also, not vtuber related but I've been watching Obelisk and Orochimaru cooking recently

Hatoba Tsugu is the only one I know who actually brings something to the table. The only one who seems to understand the sheer, unexploited potential of it.
But Matsuri must be the spiciest fucking girl in the whole of Japan. When I can get past the awkwardness of essentially looking at an anime girl anxiously moving around, Matsuri is my go-to.
Nekomiya Hinata is also a cutie, to a hnnng level. It does help if you can manage Japanese, though there are subtitles in some of the videos.
