Man. I should have read the last page first... I had to re read the entire manga (just 7.1 chapters, but still)... Only to not know if this will even continue... almost 2 years and only up to ch. 9.1 damn.

Made an account to say this: Thank you so much for bringing back translations and other processes for this manga. This was one of the few mangas I stumbled upon that really interested me. I, along with many others, greatly appreciate it.

It does look like it goes up to chapter 9, but it's got good reviews in japan. The problem is it's not a trash harem isakai, so it may be doomed. At the same time he is a butler who quit, so that may save the series?
Some doomed manga killed themselves on the foot, maybe this one too?

Which he explained zero of. Even when asked directly.

There are a couple reasons to dislike Gik, but what you two said is not valid.

But this is a clear case of readers having main character viewpoint syndrome. The main character is the good guy, and anyone who is against him is the bad guy. Can't try to imagine the viewpoint of anyone not the MC, whose viewpoint we see.

Gik straight asked Lit why he was here in the empire. Lit explicitly acknowledges that his presence looks suspicious as hell. Lit has the opportunity to explain his thoughts and actions but chooses not to even when there are clearly reasonable suspicions against him.

I'm not siding with Gik, but I'm pointing out how comments like these don't consider the fact that what Gik thought was mildly reasonable.
The very reason he is calling him selfish is why calling him selfish makes little sense. His conclusion/guess was he dropped his job with the princess known for being selfish to live a better life. He basically concluded by himself that he left because his work sucked. The details might not be mentioned but it isn't a matter of the MC not giving the required context. I guess in a medieval context it is not out of place for someone to think it is a servants duty to serve a noble and especially a royal and they should be loyal even if they aren't happy there. But it is not like we as readers have to give a fuck about whether it has cultural reasons.

I want to pluck the princess flower... No, not in that way. Get your mind out of the gutter!

It's very interesting that he actually did recognize him, instead of just being another jealous noble like I expected. This author has been very good about not doing the standard tropes, or using them in different ways, so it's really a shame that the updates are so sporadic.
As for an explanation, the MC could have just said "he was basically doing everything to the point where both the princess and staff were spoiled and couldn't do anything for themselves, which is bad for them and the country, so he had to leave to force them to learn and improve". Obviously, he was also being abused, and he had every right to look after his own well-being first, but he could also spin it so even a noble would be more likely to get it.
I guess he doesn't entirely owe an explanation to a stranger, but giving one would be the only real way to stop the hostility.
