Not sure at what point you can turn humans into a slave legally in this world, since he mentioned turning the girl that healed him into one, but it seems other species can just be caught. The issue they had with the doll being sold was more of a selling government property rather than the slavery aspect.

Princess Dolls are clone of actual living princesses , so I am not surprised that you need to behave differently than with a slave

As someone said, it might be more of a "this is government property" thing, as in they aren't seen as beings with their own thoughts, but also sometimes characters do look at them like that? It really does feel like we're getting multiple different fully-fledged stories and elements stuffed into the same isekai and it suffers for it. Does this want to be "When Isekaied, I Didn't Kill the Slime, So It Returned Its Gratitude", "In Another World With My Robot Wife", "I Was a Faulty Hero, So I Hunted Quails For a Year", "I Have Suddenly Entered This New World, So I Will Create A Monster Girl Harem", or what? I personally prefer "In Another World With My Robot Wife"; I would have been into the monster girl premise without the slavery aspect.
