Welp, The manga isn't finished yet, and the total number of chapters and the moment they become a couple, place that moment, you can say, early in the story.

Having many volumes doesn't make six volumes into a story an early time for them to get together. It certainly is not now that because there's been more time before that than after that.

The way it's paced does seem to be that the time between the start and Itsumi starting to date Hanei is going to be about as long as the time between Itsumi getting together with Hanei and Itsumi getting together with Kurohime, which makes sense and feels intentional, like Mochi au Lait trying to pace out the gaps the same.

In any case, you can find the consequences of such a hasty decision in this last chapter and the way her relationship with Todou is shown currently.

It's also certainly not a hasty decision to have years of real life time and 5 whole volumes before they got together. It was deliberate and well thought out and has led to really cool and interesting character decisions like what has been happening this chapter with Hanei giving a really bonkers, but fitting to her character, suggestion and Itsumi countering with the relatively more normal and certainly more sensible suggestion that they just try polyamory.

It's fun and good characterization and a result of very deliberate authorial decisions.

Oh yes I do, and if we're nitpicking things, I guess we're just going to forget about the Rin that goes out of her way to help the girls train for the dodgeball tournament or even help the girls in the cops and robbers.

This is relevant...how, exactly? Like actually please explain to me the thought process here.

I can clearly see a change in the narative between "I'll add them to my kill list" and "let's have a 3 way" , I thought it would have been a bit more of a struggle to come to that switch of attitude, but on the hand ,even tho most people belived that the outcome we have now was unlikely including me (and I understand ppl that felt slightly underwhelmed), I feel like from rin and kurohime's perspective it makes sense as they wouldn't want to selfishly have a high cortisol competition and since they both love her so much is in their best interest to not fight over that and create drama that would backfire on itsumi, however perhaps since this is kurohime specificaly and rin is aquinted to her and knows that itsumi and kurohime are legit friends and that whole thing at the dogeball practice it makes rin more tolerant, perhaps if it was someone completely random she likely would have pulled out the guns, I also want to point out that the outcome we got doesn't exclude some low cortisol friendly rivaly I'm sure it's right up in her alley for rin

I still have no idea how any of this is gonna unfold, all I know is that it's gonna be so crisp and juicy of peakness

That was unexpectedly amazing and a roller coaster of a chapter! Seeing Rin completely gob smacked by Kurohime, Kurohime finding her inner strength under impossible conditions and then Itsumi pulling the Ruru card but it comes from a good place. Somehow it all works.

Of course Toudou’s greed would be too much for a mature decision. That being said, as much as I love that all 3 of the girls appreciate each other, I kinda hope this’ll bring some tension.

Part of me wants it to not be a poly ending, but I would also not complain much since it fits the character. I do really love both of the girls tho.

I think this decision basically makes sense for Rin. She's very competitive and doesn't want to feel like she won Todou's love just by coming first. That said, that "I want my love rival to also give it a good shot and compete with me" thing is something manga characters often seem to think but real life people never ever do. Not that this has ever been the most realistic manga.

Fr though what an amazingly well written arc! While reading through the last 3 chapters I was genuinely getting flustered and hot, agonizing over the moment Kurohime confessed. Stummy hort n' everything! Seeing it turn out like this was for sure forecasted by Ruruka but I don't think that changes my greedy self inserting with Rin and Toudou lol.

I want Rin most of all to be happy, and I think having to accept a cooperative kind of romance will be hard for her, not to mention the disparity in general proximity between herself and Toudou compared to Kurohime that people have brought up. That being said, this is definitely the time for her to work on her insecurities and self worth. I want her to be the best Rin possible by the end of this series. Toudou and Kurohime better help with that or... or else!!
