The reason this manga is so paranoia inducing is that it's a completely normal Shonen Romantic Dramedy, but the art style combined with the way the author is presenting everything is as if it's some kind of psychological thriller/horror. It's really quite interesting actually, I have to imagine it's on purpose, it certainly gives it a unique feel.

Starting to get a really strong Grave of the Fireflies vibe from this. Not in the "war is ruining lives" way obviously, but the "Kid tries to strike out on his own with his little sister because he's too prideful to suck it up and accept help from his aunt" way. It works really well here though, cause he's at that age where he think he's far more capable than he actually is, which is why if he makes a big mistake with ishihara it's gonna get really ugly really fast.

@givemersspls I know about japan school is harder than other country he can stop early i agree with your argumentation but he has the potential to go further and let it waste is horrible if his capacity can't get him to higher level he could have done the right choice. Her mom probably know that and say to him to let her go and he can always see her later in life.
P.S : Her aunt know he wish to go to university (this chapter but the circumstance say "nay" because he want to use his D and take responsibility now)

@Kamelpov "school is harder than other country" That's a very broad statement, and it definitely doesn't always hold true, but that's not really the point.

"he has the potential to go further" At what cost? I could say that's true for literally everyone in the world, that they have the potential to go farther with a college education than without. However, he is living at someone else's house and only begrudgingly. His current guardian, his aunt, only took him and Suzu in after they had been rejected by everyone else, and based on what she has actually said to his face, she is not too keen on letting them stay. Maybe she actually thinks differently, but she hasn't said that to him.

Given that, it is a perfectly normal decision to seek stability even at the cost of potentially greater achievement. That's a decision that a lot of people very reasonably make because it is only potential, not guaranteed.

Worth repeating (and adding emphasis to).

Our society is increasingly unforgiving, even cruel, to the have-nots. It often forces people to choose between their own "happiness/achievements" and their loved ones' safety.
