Lowkey, I've debated dropping the translation and I've been struggling to find the motivation to continue this series, hence why uploads have slowed down a lot.
The reason I picked up Watanare was because a lot of people on Discord were sad this series wasn't getting translated and since I really liked the series, I wanted to revive the manga for the community. But yeah, for the past, 5-6 chapters, it's just been people hating on this series which makes me wonder... why am I translating this if everyone hates it?
I'm maybe, 2 chapters away from the Japanese Release? Once I catch up, I think I'll have to decide if I actually continue this series because I don't know anymore. Especially since now fans can just pick up the Official volumes when they eventually came out
Look, I truly do appreciate your work. So whatever you choose, I am grateful for you reviving this manga for where I read manga. Despite having spoiled myself previously, I now understand the whole "Ajisai is best" argument, and I really would not have seen it myself if not for you. Since I like this story, but not enough to digest it as a LN.
I think in the previous chapter (or 2?), I did mention something about readers being here because they enjoyed it.
And this chapter is no exception.
Please don't attribute dissatisfaction at the current plot point as "hate this series".
It's quite the opposite. This story is frustrating at certain points, like the end of this chapter. But it isn't objective nonsensical garbage out of left field. Like as an example, "Gal Cleaning", turning from a story with real cleaning tips into actual trash.
Now there will be times where the writing is so bad that pretty much everyone will criticize it. I believe "Wistoria, Wand and Sword" is a perfect example of a manga that everyone legitimately hated, but did think well of the art. Because the story repeated the exact same plot points in a new arc while outright ignoring the results of the previous arc.
Examples aside, LN readers are very willing to spoil. People can and will make mistakes in spoiling. Perhaps unintentionally, but most are because they seem genuinely enthusiastic than full of scorn for having used their time.
I'll say though, if you want to stop, sure go ahead, in fact please do. Put time into the things that makes you happy. If you're questioning it now, I feel you're already quite certain in your decision.
But for what I recall commenting previously toward you about, please make sure you are not attributing your happiness, satisfaction, etc based on others' words. At the very least, not exclusively others' words. That is a recipe for never ever being happy.
