I miss when this manga wasn't shit. The brother is a generic isekai manga level protagonist. The spin-off failed because the brother is just unlikable and boring as a protagonist.

I love the anime and the manga so much. It is such an amazing work. I love how it (basically) represents social anxiety. Now, my social anxiety is not that bad, I can still talk to anyone, I just get embarrassed most of the time when I talk with a stranger that I don't really know because I feel like I said something wrong even though I was completely fine. I still try everyday to overcome it, and Tomoko is literally my comfort character because she makes me remind myself that I'm not alone.

Agreed. It's so sad seeing something that was so boldly unique morph itself into just another flavor of generic overabundant high school drama. Like, obviously her making friends is the direction the series should've went eventually, but that should've been how it ends. Now, it's kind of impossible to give a satisfying ending for Tomoko as a character, because she already overcame the main conflict many volumes ago.


The only hope i have for this series is that, if it just keeps going or gets a sequel, that it gets a soft reset (like she goes to college or starts working) and that Tomoko gets to be cringe and alone again.
