I'm enjoying the incest story. It's a fun taboo in fiction. My point is to keep it in the realm of fiction, and not approve of it in real life. It should remain a taboo.Gets on soapbox
Wah wah wah.. Incest is terrible wah wah wah.. Protip: If you don't like the subject of a story.. STOP READING IT. No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read this.
Second for the writer of the wall of text. You realize that incest has been practiced for generations over the course of human history? Especially amongst the upper echelon of power something known as "Keeping the bloodline pure." So that immediately discredits your whole rant about how humans instinctively know it's wrong. If literally the most powerful of the powerful were practicing incest on the regular clearly there's not an instinct to avoid it.
Also the genetic degredation generally happens over the course of multiple generations of incest. Is it possible that it can be done in a single generation? Yes of course but, you can also have similar genetic problems from a non-incest coupling as well. It's just more common in an incestuous couple because they have the same genetic recessive trait. But even if they weren't related if both the male and female have the same genetic recessive trait they'd still end up with the same issue.
Finally, if works of fiction are so corrosive to the human psyche how come we don't have tons of mass murderers around all the time forever? We have plenty of mangas out there portraying main characters who are nihilistic, xenophobes, murderhobos, etc etc etc. So we should be awash with people who just go around the street stabbing others to watch them bleed and die in the street right? Oh wait no it's because people are able to tell the difference between reality and fantasy as a whole. The only ones who can't do that already have underlying issues thus it's not the book's fault that they decided to do something horrible. And the people who already have those issues gravitate towards that material because they seek it out. Correlation doesn't imply causation.
To everyone else here to just enjoy the story sorry for the wall of text this rant went on way longer than I wanted it to. Takes my soapbox and goes home
Outstanding response. I agree on all obscene media having a right to exist. I agree that censoring is not the answer. I disagree on the shaming though. Shaming should always be an option. People are free to shame me for my opinions as well.Normally I'm the one doing soapboxing, but really "does obscene media have a right to exist?" is not a question I'd seriously entertain. The answer is yes. Always yes. That even applies to hate screeds like The Turner Diaries. Can those kinds of media do damage culturally? Yes, sorta.
The solution to that potential damage isn't censorship or shaming people, though. The solution is making critical thinking a standard skill instilled in children from as young an age as possible. Critical thinking makes you less able to be influenced because you have a filter you're running your media through. I've been following this author since Oreimo and they've not made me budge an inch on the topic of incest. (it helps that like Manko-sensei, romance is not a topic that does anything for me)
And again if you've been following this author through previous works and all the way through this one and the incest route surprises you? And yet you kept reading? I suspect it's time for Data again.
That'll take place over the course of the next 11 chapters this manga has left![]()
where is the plap plap plap![]()
Nah, he'd prefer to take the piss instead. The incest plot line was clear from chapter one, I don't know why some are surprised. (and it's so peak, I wish The author of Onimai had the balls too)
She has a d!ck! That’s not Yuri. This is peak manga. This is what I signed up for. Peak yuri.
Sis gets endickened against her will and you're out here taking away her girl card 😭She has a d!ck! That’s not Yuri.
Gotta keep the bloodline pure. Please tell me one of them is adopted.
I would be understanding of your point of view if but for the fact that you even bothered to make a post at all. Basically you gave an answer to a question no one asked. Then proceed to continue justifying your standpoint to "no one asked" as if this were speech and debate club. You were basically coming in looking for a philosophical debate. You were intentionally presenting yourself as opposed to the subject you are reading about itself and criticizing it's value. In more laymans terms.. you were picking a fight.I'm enjoying the incest story. It's a fun taboo in fiction. My point is to keep it in the realm of fiction, and not approve of it in real life. It should remain a taboo.
Royalty has practiced incest for many generations, and they have genetic disorders as a direct result of doing so. The upper eschalons of society do many things that are wrong, but have invented entirely different and evil systems of morality to justify their behavior to themselves. I wouldn't look to them for any sort of morality.
Genetic damage isn't always expressed in the first generation of offspring. It's cumulative. The more people practice incest in a family tree, the more damage is passed on. Look at countries where 1st cousin marriage is common, and you will find higher rates of genetic disorders.
The natural instinct against murder is far stronger than the natural instincts against incest. There are also far greater legal and moral penalties for it. The two are not equal. In order to convince people to be okay with murder, would require far more sustained propaganda, over the course of multiple generations, in order to change people's attitudes and laws regarding it.
But there is an example of this succeeding. Imagine if you will, a group of un-named people that are told they are chosen by their god to be above all other people. And that other people have the souls of animals and are really just slaves for them. Imagine being told that for many generations. Such a people would be capable of approving of the murder of other people that weren't them, since they wouldn't view them as people. But that's just a hypothetical.
Disclaimer: i don't really have strong opinon on subject, but this is just stright up bunch of crap and self-reasoning rather then proper argumentation.Incest in real life, is harmful for multiple reasons. There is genetic damage done to any children born of it. People have a natural aversion and disgust towards incest, for good reason. I suspect it is a form of inherited genetic memory. Our ancestors knew the dangers. Disgust can be a form of protection towards harmful behavior.
The second reason incest is harmful, is do to power dynamics. If one sibling is significantly older than the other, they could easily manipulate or pressure the younger one into unwanted sex. Plus, there is the societal and family shame.
