Way too merciful.
If mc doesn't want to kill okay, but to simply gloss over them trying to gang rape her?
Hell no.
I don't give a fuck about his sob story about the bitch he liked, if you're not killing him bring him and his trash friends to the guards and they can get rid of them just as they deserve.

Eh I don’t know if that’s really the case always, I see it similar to war, if your life is threatened and your only real option is to kill, you will likely take it to save yourself.

In this case she clearly overpowered them so there wasn’t really any reason to feel threatened given why I feel she’s retained her modern morals.

Not to say that killing someone once for self defence = fine with killing, but if the whole world runs that way, you’d likely conform to it for self preservation.

I think most isekai protags have some kinda scene which makes them realize they need to change to live, even if it’s not super in-depth, it’s quite rare for a isekai protag to be the one to kill unprompted.
Most people who kill in self-defense then have a lot of mental issues due to killing someone, really good for evolution to be that way.

I don't mind an MC that defends themselves, the delayed sense of regret felt pretty realistic
pretty well depicted human behavior, anyone with common sense would feel guilty if they did something they know is wrong, moreso robbing someone of their life.

Yeah, absolutely. There are some people who cross a moral event horizon that you just don't come back from. Maybe this would have flown in the 90's (even then to my chagrin back in the day) but this just isn't on now.
If you're talking about the dude who wanted to rape MC, in the 90's he would've been killed and everyone would have forgotten his existance soon enouth.
What I do hope is that the sexual assaulter is forced to confront his f-ed up actions towards women, and actually has to fix that.
Fix this? You know that rapist never "get better"? There's no fixing these people...
Making the money back? Meh... In the 21st century? Not so much anymore.
Someone before mentioned 50 shade of grey, a book aimed at women that sold more than any other book aimed at women ever.
All the manga mentioned by Someone011 are also extremely succefull and make load of money.

There never was a time when rape, sexual abuse and such made as much money as today. There area lot of story popular in the west that are all about pedophilia, abusing slave, abusing men and women who were mentaly broken, or straight up about rape.

Do you know that an extremely popular genre today is onee-shot that have adult women having sex with kids, not just small dude.

The only difference today has with the 90's is that today people run around boasting about how their country is moraly supperior to how it was in the past. And everyone ignore the disgusting things, 50 shade of grey being a best seller, because they disprove their belief.
