Honestly, even though I did give this manga a bit of flak for the last chapter understating something I don't think should be, I do think it's really awesome that more and more we're not seeing "comedic misunderstandings" as a writing crutch. Maybe it's because I'm an older person just like the protagonist but I like it a lot better when characters talk to each other. It may not be as bombastic or lending itself well to dramatic full-page badass moments but it's really fun watching personalities navigate with each other to a better mutual place.

I think of it as them not really being that bad, that they don't do things like that normally just that Haruka kinda just went with the flow and the flow was flowing in a bad way. Anger and resentment can make people act really irrational and when things is just going one way it is simple to go with it without thinking about things in a calm and rational manner. I like to believe if they where actually serial rapists or something they would have gotten caught and sent to some mine for penal slavery or whatever it is rapists gets in that world as punishment. They weren't exactly subtle or looked like they had experience in doing that kind of thing.

They are still shitty garbage people though, but not irredeemable levels of shitty.
