My OCs are already calling the mermaid a foolish child in that knowingly melancholy way in between bouts of wondering why the translators split this chapter into 25 and 25.5 that got uploaded on the same day.

I enjoy this story so far, do you think it will stop with only the guardian fox and the mermaid curious about the 'other side' or will more supernatural creatures get roped in?

no, drinking the blood just helped with warding off other monsters and general good health. But I think after the car crash, the blood made hinako’s body start attracting monster.

In chapter 23 it seems they alluded to consuming mermaid flesh giving immortality but the girl still had human appearance. Mermaid blood probably acts as a boost to health and regeneration which stopped Hinako from bleeding out during the accident.

I just realized Shiori's coral is mostly symmetrical and kept the same from panel to panel, that must be so annoying to draw
