thanks for the chapter.

tbh, I don't think the mom is entirely right. Sure Rinko should do it for herself and because she wants to, but the mom literally just went back and chatted with them for 1? 2? hours, how can she be so sure that Rinko is not doing this for herself?

She can both want to go back to a girl for herself and for love, those things aren't mutually exclusive.

Also, realistically, if someone who was happy with their current sex randomly got sex change by supernatural means one day, I'm pretty sure they would want to change back to their original sex for themself.

At first I thought she would just be a pure transphobe and —while i’m glad there’s some nuance — doing hormone therapy is VERY DIFFERENT than doing any surgery that would only happen many years in the future. Conflating the two is a common transphobic talking point.

JUST TAKE THE GIRL TO A DAMM PSYCHIATRIST AND LET SOMEONE COMPETENT HANDLE IT.

Gender dysphoria is a bitch, hope she sorts everything out

Psy-what? Everyone knows that doesn’t exist in Japan, amirite?

(Shoutout to Ethics manga for realistically helping children with proper professional guidance)

I don't get the logic. Why wouldn't she want to do the surgery for herself? Did the girl always had some form of dysmorphia and is struggling with the concept of changing sex? Or is she also afraid of the whole surgery and hormonal therapy since it can be very invasive?
She SHOULD want the surgery for herself, growing up as a woman an all BUT the author is writing it out like her main reason is to live for her guy crush. Author writing like this just to prolonge the story yk or else manga done and no more drama

Well, that some people would randomly change gender because of some accident, doesn't keep actual trans people (and the surgical know-how) from existing, does it?

The premise is that the "Sex Change Disorder" is a thing and it's irreversible. It's been stated from chapter 1.
My problem is the instantaneity. The "Sex Change Disorder" is instantaneous while the treatment is based in IRL. It would be more believable to me if the "Sex Change Disorder" was something gradual where changes happen over time.

Oh thank goodness she's not another anime drama-parents.

Would the dysphoria still kicks in despite her being a former woman?

We still have no clue why nor how this happen, and whether if this switch can happen several times or one time only.
yeah it would, even if you're a cis person, you can get dysphoria if "opposite sex characteristics" start appearing on you
i've seen obese guys describing their feelings abt having "man boobs" and it sounds pretty close to dysphoria, hormonal disorders or certain types of medication can also cause feelings of dysphoria
it's probably not as intense as what trans people feel but it can get pretty awful, so in some situations hormones or testosterone/estrogen blockers can really help

Yep, poor girl is fucked no matter what she does.
Trauma of what happend to her body or trauma for trying to get back to the original status and then her world breaking when it doesn't fixes it...
But I think that in a world with a illness like that gender stuff and trans wouldn't be anywhere close to ours, as a sudden change would be a illness and people wanting to change gender on purpose would be seen like someone that wants to cut their own arm, that is how I see it, but imagine it for everybody.

Fuck off mom! She thinks the only reason her own daughter would like to be a woman is for a man. What a shitty subservient mentality that is not to talk about. I was expecting nothing from her and still managed to piss me off and disappoint me :angery:

Edit: Nevermind, she was making a point of it being the wrong reason to do it and I strongly agree with it. I should have finished reading it first :kek:

Surgery isn't even strictly necessary. There are milder forms of gender affirming care that aren't invasive and even reversible. Even just hormone blockers would actually help Rinko make the decision for herself before her body starts changing on its own. The more I think about it the more this chapter pisses me off. L mom.

Edit: I'm not even pissed that the mom doesn't know any of that. I am pissed that she shows up for an afternoon, gatekeeps medical attention, and then immediately fucks off. What a bitch.

Is this chapter that controversial? The mother's never presented as fully correct, just well-meaning, which doesn't make her right. Rinko says so herself, her mother always thinks she's right.

Obviously Rinko doesn't want to change back just because of her crush, but it is one of the reasons. She's very much of the opinion that her crush won't like her if she's a man, we've seen this and while Rinko states herself that it's "the" reason, it's natural to think she hasn't figured everything out yet, her crush is probably her best idea of clinging to womanhood right now.

I do think it's rash to go ahead and get surgery right now, and it's true Rinko's never going to return to the way she was before. I can't say I understand a lot about it since I'm not trans but Rinko's not in a "I want to be a woman" mindset as much she is in a sort of desperate "I NEED to go back to normal" mindset, which isn't really possible anymore.

This manga is probably more about Rinko's journey of self-acceptance, no matter what gender she chooses to present as in the future.

Holybased mom. She's right 100%

No matter how advance the surgery and medication is, it's still surface level body modification not actual sex change (like how this weird disease work).

Rinko dysphoria will get even worse, considering how she was born a women. Having a fake female body is going to make shit a lot worse for sure. Not to mention other complications with liver, hair follicle, and skin conditions too.

just realized the english tl of the title is "we" are former girls... wonder if more than just the li used to be girls/ if any of her friends used to be guys
wasn't the MC's crush also one XD the backstory from when he was telling "about a friend" was saying that he was one that got the disorder. I can't imagine the astronomical dysphoria a disorder like this would cause... WHILE with others I know how it would cause it to disappear instantly if they got it. >< I feel bad for both.

That...makes me cry? Idk if I want to say relateable because I didn't even do it but damn...

Inb4 the "anti-woke" f*ck appear
there are people are are "not woke" that understand... Some people don't have the luxury to get treatments due to health risks, and sometimes money and other factors hugs to you
