It still baffles me how some idiots here think the MC isn't thinking logically by trying to stick to the story. Like bro imagine you have two roads. One road is safe is properly mapped and leads to your destination. The other is a road through a dark forest where you have no idea wtf is doing to happen and you can die but it'll still lead you to the same place. Why would anyone take that second road. You idiots are complaining about him not wanting to add more random variables to the story when there's already random variables being added in from an unknown party lowering his chances of survival. Like holy shit you people can't be real. Just go read solo leveling or something jfc
Except the road is not safe, the map is clearly out of date, and the road is effectively just as dark as the forest at this point. Events are blatantly not according to the script at all, and at this point it comes across as MC being indecisive and foolish. Joining the student council would not be blindly stepping into the dark either, he has enough information and I would hope enough intelligence to overcome a few hurdles to allow himself to be in a much better position to react to the changes in the story.
As I stated, this was just the last straw and there were many logical inconsistencies across the story that I was letting slide, I still gave this manga a honest chance and enjoyed myself at times but in the end I was let down again and again with zero signs that the story is going to change.
Again, I dropped it on 71 because it spends most of the chapter as if he's actually going to say yes and the manga for a moment feels like it may take a a different turn from now on, as if he might start actually being truly proactive rather just acting on insider knowledge, taking pretty much all the shit and abuse thrown his way, and hoping for the best like
he's done the entire manga for 70 chapters, despite that approach clearly resulting in more problems by this point.
But nope, more status quo. And that just tells me the author has no intention of changing it now or ever, so I have no intention of reading further.
But I guess that makes me an "idiot" who should "go read solo leveling" to you? Because I'd like a protagonist to maybe consider being more proactive instead of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, because I can tell when an author is afraid to change gears even slightly? What "can't be real" about that?
