Teenagers are bullying others for leaving a group chat? How petty can you be?

"We hate others because you're different"

"No. I left because this group chat is a shitfest with people talking nonsense. None of you hear yourselves. At any point someone has tried to have a serious discussion it was overblown with ridicule. Nothing but children"

They are not the same thing: smoking is an addiction that people do, DESPITE self harming, due to the pleasing effects of nicotine. Self cutting is a symptom of mental illness (in its literal meaning of "not well being") and who perform it have self arm as the objective of their action, and not an unwanted side effect.

As much as I like the idea of other kids “intersecting” their problems, this does feel a bit too much for the narrative to handle at this pace. Is there any takeaway here? I’m guessing we should wait to see if this is some sort of major arch or not.

@arsenfire probably, yeah! its ok to support and care for someone but soemtimes, someone doesn't need that help and someone might just want to be alone and deal with whatever they want by themselves which is to be respected. u can care for someone without breaking boundaries or disrespecting someones needs

@Gustbk I'd imagine that this was done intentionally to eventually lead to the exploration of the teacher more.... like after the stress reaches to a point where the teacher has to confront a major problem of his while involving his students with no other choice

They are not exactly the same thing, but the relieve they get have the similar effect in similiar situation. It is asking us to evaluate our understanding of addiction, self-harm, and coping mechanism. They also give alternative prespective of our understanding of these things. If we research it more maybe our current understanding about those things might actually be wrong.

@Xxjuggernaut oh I know the feeling. That's the reason why I leave. If all they talk is spam, I leave the group. I only joined cause there's something that needs to be done and communication is essential for its success.

As of this chapter we've been introduced to every student in the Ethics class and their problems.

Since we've gotten past their individual storylines the story seems to be shifting from Takayanagi going one on one using ethics to help, to the students using what they learned and implementing it into their interactions.

Seeing as how I'm at the point in my early life where I'm considering leaving my job to teach, this manga is relaxing and anxiety-inducing at the same time.

I've read this yesterday but forgot to comment.
Thanks to Chojiki for the pic of the students and their problems. I feel like re-reading this manga again just to remember all of them more lmao.
I agree with Takayanagi. Only help people who want it and seek out for it. I'd get annoyed if I don't need help but this person just meddles on my business, after all. There are certain times where it's good, but other times it's just bad. May even worse the situation. As sad as it is...when the one you have to fight is yourself, you can only depend on yourself. I love this chapter because of that harsh truth.
I'm glad these two kids befriend each other now, though. They're so cute, and I want to believe it's their first step to recovery.

@Beregorn I've read it can cause a release of dopamine which is something akin to an addiction, regardless even if they aren't the same I think the point stands, we can understand those like us but can't understand those different than us, even if the intent is to help if not that many people understand the reasoning then they can't help, though I would be happy to be proven wrong haha
