Do kids actually hold adult validation in such high regard at that age? Like to the point of shunning their own age group? Genuine question, I didn’t do well at anything so can’t relate but I’m curious.
I was like that. Since my age group shunned me (I was a bookish kid with too much of a brain and lack of common interests and no regards for self-care), I sought attention from adults. Sometimes I wish I could do a re-do.

depends if the adults in the kid's lives are worth looking up to in their eyes. Guys at school are just unpredictable and undefined. One day they could be a popular kid and your friend then the next day he is a loser and doesn't talk to you. Nice on day , jerk another. Adult in comparison are predictable and they have a place and role, you know where they stand. So if they seem more worthy of your time an attention they will regard them higher then some scrubs at school.

Thank you for the translation (I was already aware of Maslow's Hierarchy from previous school courses. But I didn't know a level higher than "self-actualization" was amended. That's cool).
