What are some manga you’ve dropped for personal reasons.

It's one of those catch 22's, realistically someone is as per your example 28 mentally but body wise he's what 16? While from the MC's real age a 28yr old gf would be fine society would just see a 28yr old female dating a 16yr old.

I'm always saddened many series don't have the MC/FMC's question themselves on what they want outside of at best a single line early on. Cause it raises multiple moral quandries like if the MC is over a hundred years old when reincarnated at so it's 16yr body/116yr mental. Does this mean they can't date anyone? Cause some would argue that even an 18yr old isn't mature enough.

Relife is a bit different though, as it's science on a time limit. I haven't read it though but from what I can see I'll have to give it a read but it sounds squicky.
For me if it was reincarnation it's fine, since the MC has no other choice, but in ReLife, those who are de-aged can switch back to their adult bodies without consequence as far as I know, if the situation calls for it.
If the female love interest, who is 16, knew that the guy is actually 28, then it would be fine. But in my opinion she is basically tricked by the MC and the company who is enabling this.

Yeah thats why it sounds squicky, like how would Relife even be allowed as a function (As in IRL) with it's major issues.

On that note though a new series I dropped like it was hot was Listen to My Young Lady's Story ―Villainess Conquest Record― cause rape (Multiple) as a positive start to a relationship is well beyond what I will tolerate in a series. I know the description says "However, after deciding to take revenge on her in a risque way, he comes to realize that she's a lot easier than she looks..." I thought that was more you know gonna be like lucky pervert moment or something, knowing manga I should have known better :S

I can only imagine that it has some government backing, but heads will definitely roll if the public knew that men in their late 20s are secretly allowed to go to the same schools as their daughters.

Oshi no Ko

The story's amazing but shit just isn't for me

Betrayal, Murder, Manipulation, it's just fucked up I can't continue to read it, my heart is just weak to endure all that

I mean life's already hard for me, so I can't find a reason to burden myself more with those fictional psychological stuff

Like bitch I read manga to soothen my heart, make myself happier, and NOT to make it hurts more, I get some people find excitement in thrilling stuff, nerve wrecking plot, but PERSONALLY not for me (sorry)

The reason I read it in the first place is because I biasedly follow what Kaguya-sama's author write, since I like that series lot so I thought this one might be as wholesome as Kaguya..

but NOPE I was mistaken by the first 20 chapter of the story (first 10 chapter are the BEST chapter to me, until the "Tragedy" occurred)

so yeah that's that

One Punch Man - it went from parody of shonen manga to full on shonen. Apart from that the chapter revisions by artist/writer, redraws and retcons got confusing to the point of the story making no sense at all.
After around chapter 100 it became OPM/Generic Super Hero Manga

Got a few that I'll just quickly TL : DR;

  • Ingoshima: Went from a fun survival series with cult-like lunatics to some of the worst porn I've seen in manga. I like lewd, but this wasn't even arousing, let alone interesting.
  • Tamarowa: Had an interesting premise, started off strong, then became mindless drivel. Also low quality porn with mostly unappealing women.
  • Dai Kyochuu Rettou: I liked the idea of killer bugs, but the quality began dropping massively, the bugs started being porn models, and almost every character became unlikeable. Doesn't help that translators bailed.
  • Infection: Zombies, survival, romance, forced romance, hilariously bad love triangles, family issues, political issues...wait, what happened to the original appeal? Oh right, the zombies became a non-issue and the love triangle became a hilariously pathetic attempt at a harem.
  • The dozens of other series that aren't being translated that I desperately want translated: because nobody is translating the things I want to read.

Turns out a lot of stuff I initially liked turned into porn for the lowest IQ enjoyers who just wanna see boobs without any buildup. Having taste sure is one hell of a curse. The last one's a bit off topic, but whatever. Looking at my dropped series reminded me that nobody's touching stuff I want to read since I put untranslated things in that list. Wish that problem would get fixed someday.

The two most memorable mangas that I've dropped over the years that warrant talking about are;

Parallel Paradise - Below average smut/fan service even for an isekai, girls that come into contact with the MC and notice his bulge (owo) turn into horny b*tches that can barely function until they get a dose of creme de nut. Which is a massive problem in a post apocalyptic world where said girls are all trained to fight monsters that want to oof them and when they give their own creme de nut, its literal poison that there is no cure for. MC's creme doesn't do that of course, instead it changes the girls fate where they don't have to worry about spontaneously dying because that's apparently a thing to explain why everyone doesn't hide out in safe havens with massive walls that the monsters can't breach.

Minamoto-kun Monogatari - Lets cure your trauma caused getting mercilessly bullied by a girl in middle school, by recreating the Epic of Genji and have you seduce and fuck every woman that steps into my office from now until you get over it!

I hate super dense characters.
But now that I've said that it's mostly novels that I've gotten tired of. I know a few manga are involved as well but I'm bad with remembering names. Ha, sometimes brain injuries are nice though since I always fine something "new" that I've already read and forgotten. But anyway it's dense character manga that infuriates me.

Not like “oh it’s boring” or “ I hate harems”
But like “this part personally affected me and I can’t continue”

For example I was interested in Futari Solo Camp. It looked like an interesting manga about a grumpy guy being forced to camp with an energetic girl.

But what it turns out the girl is annoying and pushy and uses the excuse of false sexual assault to force the MC to keep her around.

Made me sick.

I know it's a few years later, but I leave some spoilers below for the new people who might stumble this post regarding the "Futari Solo Camp".

Tl;dr: This issue gets adressed and those two move on. Go on read it, it's a very enjoyable manga.

The girl get called out for that threat by the Male MC's best friend (who's a cool guy, a genuine bro and a nice wing man for the main couple) and admits that she regrets doing it.

Also, despite the rough start, the girl quickly become a very nice and likable character and become more and more skilled at camping under the tutoring of the MC who also gets some development and start enjoying camping with the presence of another person (he enjoyed to camp with his father and probably his parents death in his teenager years made him a more reserved person, since he kept pushing his schoolmates away without any of them doing any harm to him and only the MC's best friend managed to become friends with him after being very insistent).

The MC and FMC start getting closer and closer to the point the MC start opening up with her and missing her presence when he's camping solo (but he's dense and thinks he's only worried about her as a mentor, while in fact he's falling for her) and she's also falling for him without realizing.

No thanks. False sexual assault charges are not something to be done lightly.

Doesn’t matter how much they apologize for it.

I dropped Keroro Gunso because mostly out of boredom. I loved the series as a kid but now, it kinda just is meandering around.

I also dropped Dress Up Darling because I was also bored and I stopped reading it for a couple months and didn’t wanna binge read the entire series to know what’s happening currently.

New Game. Technically not the manga but the anime. The struggle of a new grad in IT (loosely defined) hit way too close to home and I got anxiety from watching it.
then i solved shit irl, overcame the anxiety, watched the show, enjoyed it

The manga I decided not to read anymore is Juujika No Rokunin, this manga is too much, not because of its torture or gore scenes but because of its plot. The author extended this manga to a long stretch instead of just finishing it and doing a great deal of justice for his fans.
I'm still tagging along to see how he milk it. All the edgy stuff is fine but what pisses me off is how the manga incorporate logic while completely ignoring common sense.

ReLife. Sorry, but the whole concept behind letting an adult go back to high school with their mental age intact is so incredibly creepy. The fact that no one questions this up to the point I read it (around one third) also is unnerving.
Have you seen Mushoku Tensei :lul:
