Not sure how to feel about this. At one hand it is horrifying and I understand that she wants to let her story be known to inspire action for (basic) human rights. But at the other hand I come to this site to escape reality by reading manga about more interesting things and 'simpeler' worlds. And I don't want this site to start being 'flooded' with comics pushing political agenda's (no matter whenever I agree or dissagree with the statement). But I guess that just means for me to try ignoring those posts.

Nonsense. There have always been mangas with a heavy theme here, and many conveying political messages. Nobody forces you to read them. You want lighthearted, simpleminded stuff? Sure, there's tons of that here as well.

Pretending like manga can only be escapist big dick fantasies ignores an enormous amount of manga that actually have something to say and are some of the best manga of all time. Shit's been political even before Tezuka wrote a bunch of political manga in the 30s/40s.

Manga is another powerful medium to express something. It doesn’t have to always be fantasy for self-indulgence. If you don’t like politics, then just stay away from them, there’s so few manga about them anyway.

However, I don’t think this is an issue people should ignore about. It’s not just “an agenda pushed”, we are talking about the CCP here. People tend to think that the problem is far away and unrelated to them, so why should they care? But I feel like with China, sooner or later you will be involved. Trying to “escape reality” isn’t gonna help much with that.

This story still left a big scar on my heart. Whenever I would space out flashbacks of that story would come to my mind. I will forever remember this.
