Why call Mexico Mexico if the full name is United Mexican States? (translation by me, a mexican) Why call Germany Germany when the full name is Federal Republic of Germany? Why call France France when the full name is French Republic?

It's a minor issue, but still, this thread is about countries and using context, we can infer that when you talk about South Africa you are refering to the country, not the region of the continent.

The america part is not wrong, but I think Austraila and New Zealand, along with islands, make Oceania, not just Australia

If God tells me the planet is overpopulated and asked me to wipe out a country to rebalance the world, I would say that wiping out a country is only a temporary solution that may last at most a couple hundred years and that other issues, especially climate or biological issues, may end up being a problem even sooner.

Thus, I'd tell God to destroy the planet, start a new one, and hope for a better dice roll on the "intelligent" species you get.
