I think there's a lot of reasons but one it that i remember is because he tried to kill Claude using black magic. Other reasons because the brother also kills Claude's mother, i think. And a lot of other stuffs such as sleeping with his fiance at the time although i'm not sure if it's the one that really caused him to do it. Probably because of the outburst because i feel like his brother keeps on taunting him. Like first, he sleeps with Claude's fiancee, then he ascend the throne and kills Claude's mother, then tried to kill him using black magic.
