dont really have as much sympathy for this pair as i do for the others. the character traits here seem to be fast idiot and idol idiot, nothing much deeper. maybe i just cant relate
It's "I couldn't care less" if you want to imply that you don't care at all. In this context, Yamato seems to not care about an injury, so it should be "couldn't" rather than "could".
The moment they asked the question, I knew.
I doubt he'll ever be able to run again. He will fall into a pit of despair knowing that he'll never again be the fastboi the one he loves desires.
But, fortunately, this isn't Netorare. So we'll still see that happy ending.
@zStella No your proofreader has it right. The other person has it backwards. "I couldn't care less" implies that you do care, probably quite a bit. Just read it out. "I could not care less." Means they do care. "I could care less" means you don't care at all. I just read an article about common grammar mistakes and that's one of them.
@Tora
Well you read a bad article then; you're the one who has it wrong. The phrase is "I couldn't care less" means "I already don't care, so it's impossible for me to care less". What you're saying "I could care less" implies he cares, "I already care to some degree, so it's possible for me to care less". You have it perfectly backwards. The latter makes more sense as a phrase for someone who cares too much about something. From a practical stand point, it makes no difference, but logically, it does make a difference, considering what the phrase is suppose to convey. This seems to be an American only mistake. Example 1 Example 2 Example 3
This is seriously the only manga that can get away with using a ton of massive clichés. Knowing how much of a dork those two are, I couldn't see any other outcome than this. However, last place? Harsh. I wouldn't be surprised if he was depressed after this.
