Using this as a lodestone to make an updated answer for the thread:Similar issues to others in this thread. Pages load but images don't. Takes anywhere between 10 seconds and 60 seconds per image, seems to load the images in sequential order.
Considering the issue is due to extreme traffic, not visiting it would actually help the issue you knowThis has been going on 3 weeks now. I would much prefer if you just took down the site until you've taken preventative measures/fixed the issue, this is making me want to not visit anymore. 😭
It's been like 6+ months on android devicesImage won't load again, feels like its been going worst since then
This would result in 100% downtime instead of 95% normal operation and 5% slower image loading, taking the site down entirely would have no impact on the ability of the developers to implement fixes. This has been going on 3 weeks now. If you've been having image loading issues for six months, they are entirely unrelated to the ongoing site issues that this thread is about, which have only been going on for three weeks. It's been like 6+ months on android devices
when you host your smug image reply on the same Raspberry Pi you're using for Mangadex's server:
Ongoing process with constant minor upgrades, last one was two ago. You'll note that you can actually report the image loading issues on the forums as they're happening now instead of the entire site falling over, and that the images do actually load (slowly) instead of sitting there for five minutes and timing out.eta on server upgrades? or some sort of hotfix

We've gone from several hours of downtime a day to about an hour of slower image loading in a day, and we're working on further mitigations.

God forbid I post a relevant screenshot from our status page. You've got an interesting definition of a "smug image reply".
Also, the site issues only impact chapter image loading; forum images are unaffected, so if you're failing to load images on the forum there's an issue on your side.

That's because he's right. It's only been a few weeks of spotty services. If it's been happing to someone for six months the problem is caused by something between the keyboard and chairI love the gaslighting in this post mangadex has been shit for six months and this dude is like "nah that's not are problem that's your problem"
Yes it has why are you being a dick about itWe've been having intermittent chapter image loading issues for the last two weeks due to record breaking user count. It hasn't been going on for "6 months", not even close, please stop pulling shit out of your ass.
No it hasn't for 99% of the people.Yes it has why are you being a dick about it
Scraping from the web sounds retarded, do these people not know there are public manga torrents in Tb and people would be happy to seed it?is this happening because AI companies are scraping all the images for data training? everyone is going nuts with the shitty manga filters so the timing is at least suspect
I don't know what you guys are doing in the backbone, I'm stating what I have been experiencing in my android device for this long. At first I thought it was my problem given I couldn't reproduce this problem on PC and it was intermitent, but I couldn't find any reason and tried many different things on my part to fix this, so maybe it's related. If you've been having image loading issues for six months, they are entirely unrelated to the ongoing site issues that this thread is about, which have only been going on for three weeks.
Why "99%"? Where do you pull these numbers? Just because you don't have problems doesn't mean other people doesn't have problems. I didn't report it either because I thought it was a problem on my end but it might not be the case. We are reporting something that correlate with the wide problem with the site.No it hasn't for 99% of the people.
So, did you report these issues you were having?
My guess would be no...
Except for an specific issue in Firefox that was necessary to adjust some settings (desktop and mobile), I haven't experienced any issue more than the intermittent slow chapter loading since weeks ago (Android 13 - Firefox mainly and from Latam), do you use Data saver in your browser? (which it doesn't work well with MD, you will need to use the built-in option not the browser option) any specific DNS settings or a network based security option?. Obviously troubleshooting now could be difficult, but from my side only since March it has been the issue and not always when others report the slow loading, and when I do experience is less time that other have commented never really waited 10 minutes for a chapter to fully load (maybe because I use built-in Datasaver option in MD, not sure)I don't know what you guys are doing in the backbone, I'm stating what I have been experiencing in my android device for this long.
We can tell when there are widespread issues with the site from our internal metrics, and there have been no widespread issues that I can recall with the CDN this year barring the recent intermittent ones discussed in this thread.I don't know what you guys are doing in the backbone, I'm stating what I have been experiencing in my android device for this long. I have been having this issue too, for quite a long time. I just never bothered making a post about it until now. Just because I (and others) aren't posting about it, doesn't mean it isn't happening. Rather than post about it, I usually just check a different site for the chapter. We can tell when there are widespread issues with the site from our internal metrics, and there have been no widespread issues that I can recall with the CDN this year barring the recent intermittent ones discussed in this thread.
Other issues that may be confused with site issues that also affect a chunk of users at a time but are entirely unrelated to us; Firefox QUIC bugs, Safari OOM errors, multiple countries unreliably banning us, any given ISP having temporary routing issues (or longer term routing issues to specific parts of the world), those specific versions of Firefox a while back that mass loaded site favicons at random and got people tempbanned from MD for having too many tabs open, god knows however many other issues.
It's very difficult to distinguish between a site issue and an unrelated issue when there's only a few people experiencing it. Look at the number of people posting in this thread about this issue (which previously impacted the entire userbase, and now impacts a small section) compared to almost every other thread in this subforum.
Also, I use two Android devices to access MD regularly, across Firefox/Chromium/Mihon, and I've not noticed any issues.
