Unless the other students are using magic to try and murder him, I'm pretty sure it's not part of her duties to deal with it. Maybe if they were at least actually trying to murder him. But yeah, secret bodyguard duty stops being a secret the second you actually have to protect someone so you kind of wait for a time that it's actually necessary, rather than times he should honestly just be standing up for himself. But even he didn't think his life was in danger there, he just let them get their hits in to save time and effort I guess.

Is Kagari her family name or surname? Typical muscle brained bullies. It's not like he forced Kagari to pick up the eraser and any moron could see he dropped it accidentally. Not to mention, considering how she rarely talks it's obvious they're doing all this for themselves under their own initiative rather than check with her on whether or not it's wanted much less needed. It's really funny seeing the MC being easily held in a princess carry by the female lead. Typical peaceful and ignorant student in a peaceful age. She tells him not to leave her side and yet goes over to someone doesn't know who calls out. If it was one of her fans they'd be desperately calling her over and leave him to his own devices assuming they even noticed his existence. In any case, despite not really interested in interacting with other students his comment about her hair charmed her so much she was dazed for a bit.
