Quite the opposite for me, it's way to cliche to make the confession it's own arc, have the character do a monologue of what they like about the other that's so long they need several papers to read off of...

He knows she likes him, he likes her. Besides I'm sure the author is leaving the main dish for the date on 25th, this was just the appetizer
