I honestly think Makiba has like oogami for a while now but didn't he didn't think she liked him back, so he didn't want to complicate the friendship by confessing to early. Her asking him to see the lights just confirmed it for him

This chapter goes like a Javelin pierce my guts out of nowhere.

Good writing tho. Sticking to the character and honestly, prolonged confession is HELLA FICTIONAL stuff.

Remember kids, when you like someone, you clock it in as soon as you see the window. Don't wait but don't rush either. As soon as you see they like you back, CLOCK IT IN. PLEASE DON'T WAIT IT LIKE YOU HAVE A LIFETIME OR AS IF SHE WON'T SEEING OTHER PEOPLE EVER! DON'T DO WHAT I DID! PLEASE! I BEG YOU! 😭😭😭

I guess having a kid has made the mangaka realize there's more to life than dragging things out forever.
A LITTLE TOO SOON MAKIBA!!!
WE ARE ON CHAPTER 67. SIX SEVEN. THEY HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER LIKE A YEAR. SHE IS NOT A RENT-A-GIRLFRIEND. IT IS NOT "TOO SOON".
DONT MENTION THE CHAPTER NUMBER
NOBODY HAD DRAWN ATTENTION TO IT UNTIL YOU MADE THIS POST SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF POINTLESS APOPHASIS.

It's honestly even a little cooler/weirder than that (if you're a language nerd like me). 好き, often translated as "like", is actually an adjective or noun rather than the English verb it's translated to, so it's even more literally translated as "I find Oogami likeable", hence the need to say "Oogami no koto ga suki" rather than just "Oogami wo suki". It's the same for the other 'levels' of the word koi/ai (恋/愛), which leads to the phrases "koi wo suru" and "ai shiteru", which is the words plus the verb "to do".
Id also like to give my appreciation for this as a mini language nerd and someone whod like to at least know enough japanese to understand whats being said.
