i absolutly HATE it when they say things like "oh this iron sword is heavy" !
The author could just make a quick google search and he would know, that a damn sword doesn't weight much more than 1.5 kg
And if your super muscular 35 years old man can't swing it for 10 min straight, he deserves to be killed by some goblins

Actually allot were used for cutting or slicing. There are types better at or made for cutting, and types better at or made for piercing, But swords were not the primary weapons, and sucked against the later armor types. Slicing wounds were better for stopping your opponents as the pain and injury hinder their effectiveness and can take them out of the fight. Piercing strikes were more lethal as you penetrated deeper and could hit vital organs easier, but often did not kill immediately and your opponent would still be in the fight until they die.

Oh come on, he even say it in this chapter, it's an iron sword, it's light... I'm not talking about some monster sword like the one from berserk, i'm talking about normal swords in manga, that somehow weight 10kg.
If the author wants to make an heavy sword, he can do it, but he can't call it an iron sword or a normal sword or whatever, because it breaks the willing suspension of disbelief.
And no, swords were used to cut and slice, they had to evolve to do more piercing, because of the armors that evolved too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...
I'm pretty sure he didn't say that the iron sword is "heavy", but that it's "heavier" than one made of wood -and I believe that's true since iron is denser than wood-,and that it would get some time getting used to, since he's been using that wooden sword for what I think is a couple of decades now.

Well, for me, it's implied that it's heavy. He says "it's nothing like the wooden sword", meaning it's a lot heavier. A training sword (wood or metal without cutting edge) should be approximatly the same weight than the real deal. Or else, there would be no point training with it, since you would have to use the sword differently than during your training, once in battle.
(He could also imply that it's lighter than the wood sword, but if you look at his position and how he seems to be in difficulty using it, i don't think so.)
Anyway it's a confusing choice from the author, i don't pretend to be an expert in swordmanship nor in sword, but i know a bit, and when i read that kind of things, it put me out of the story.

But I don't think his wooden sword here was used for training, but rather practical usage, but that doesn't really affect it's weight, right?
