I was also surprised why he would not restore himself to be in his prime.

We dont know the limits of his ability, does it by any chance mean he can achieve immortality?

@Zing I would guess so, there seems no "one time a target"-restriction or something like that, only the restricition how often he can use it per day , so he could die, because he is not invincible, but should be pretty much immortal if he chooses to be.

I like Touro but Sora is a little to perky and innocent for my taste. It’s hard to find older MCs in manga.

@RC1138Boss , its been 25 years . Sora is 17 , Touro was about between 10 and 12 from the look of it. so hes around 35-37.

I feel like this is the third time I read exactly the same premise about healing magic used in OP ways despite being called useless. I'm starting to get tired of it

Given that the skill was limited to items until it was maxed out, it wasn't really healing and took 25 years of grinding to actually be considered useful for anything other than item repair. Yes, I would consider that to be called useless given the extremely late payoff. Especially that it was one hell of a gamble to begin with, anyone with any form of common sense would see it as useless in it's initial state and it wasn't even sure that it would be useful when maxed out.

Around 40 in Japanese means you're dead ancient. Look at how they were calling him old man and shit.

An adult in his prime in those things is when you're around 13 years old. When you're 18, it's like you're mid-30's or something.

Which is why so many protagonists are children.

@Rheeve item repair would be incredibly useful just as a supporter role even if it's only his own gear carrying valuable perishables (potions food ect.) would save tons on expedition costs learning to use a tower sheld or similar and absorbing / dealing with fire/acid based enemies which can burn/dissolve his gear would probably make him a local hero as taking attacks for others and being able to dodge the cost of repairing / replacing gear is jsut plain usful

@Rheeve How the skill was acquired doesn't matter. It's still the same premise. "X skill was useless until I mastered it and now it's OP"

With that skill you could make a lot of cash opening a fix anything shop at a big city, then just pay some adventurers to power level you in the weekends. Sounds much more doable than grinding for 25 years with a skill unsuited for combat, even if he went for a pavise shield and plate armor build it would be questionable how useful that would be as it would depend on the monsters available.

That said MC doesn't come out as a big brain individual so its not unrealistic that he isn't using his skills optimally.

The problem of his skill was the fact he could 'restore' items up to ten seconds back.
While that could be useful to replenish recently used ammunition, this skill was way too limited to be in use

@Aznereth I don't remember this 10 second rule, but if true it does limit things a lot. Best usage of it would probably be using a flintlock pistol or a crossbow, restoring the weapon to a loaded state instantly after every shot.

Everyone talking about how it could be usefull as item repair are forgetting the other restriction. Even at level 10 it still has a restriction of 10 uses in an hour. Which means as a reload type of use, it could only reload 10 times per hour. If you're taking care of a party's equipment for example, the 10 second rule makes it unusable to long term items and heving a guy that replenishes 10 potions per hour is... arguably worse then just buying the extra potions, unless they're super expensive in this world.
If you think about it, when he says he had the 17th slime, assuming his dagger gets fucked up everytime he kills one... IF the skill usage was the same as in levl 10, that took him at least an hour just waiting for the cooldown even if he killed the slimes fast.

after level 10... i think what makes it broken is that he can use it on himself. Haven't read anything but these two chapters, but.... the only limiter he has is the 10 times per hour, but he can restore himself out of that, which makes him capable of restoring others out of their usage limits as well. MP is not an issue, HP is not an issue, if he can use restoration fast enough his party becomes immortal and resouce-free. The ranged weapon example becomes dumb, since the skill has no cast time, if he spams on himself and the gun, any gun becomes fully automatic. A flintlock pistol can be restored to when it was about to shoot, and it becomes a gatling xD. I guess unless he's insta killed he's unbeatable, and if sora gets goot enough to deflect anything it just becomes dumb. Well, most stories don't actually use the full potential of stuff like this, so i don't expect to see him spamming the skill in combat, even though theoretically he could, since any exhaustion on himself can be instantly reverted.

Oh, he mentioned being able to become young again, so... yeah. he can be fully immortal too.

Yea human usage has to be one of the number one uses ,immortality. Healing anything ,cancer and even an incurable disease he could indefinitely keep you alive. Also if he killed a dragon he could restore the body and get a fun load of magic crystals right???? Gg universe
