You can image, what might have happened, when she would have turned him down. What you ask? I have no idea, but it must have been something terrible or she wouldn't have yielded. not her, she was expected to shut her trap.
She had to use the influence she has (her newly acquired duchess title, her uncle, the fact, that her husband, abandoned his fief, everything) to make that work. And
