another death flag for their mother.... i was really hoping MC's plot armor finds a way to help her survive her condition but it seems they're preparing the reader for the inevitable

well, his quest to find the medicine for her mother is quite lengthily one after all, like even in the WN, after 600+ chapter its still not finished yet :dogewow:

You can't. They mention right after that the royal family were aware of the products for some time already, the whole thing was staged.
I actually first asked this on the chapter 2, where the MC showed the product the first time to Christy.
She's right away saying that the product is good and will sell, despite only trying that product for few moments. Where the skincare product should be something only exist as an idea on this world, according to her.

I have to say I'm reading this out of boredom and not because its writing is particularly good. I mean, it's at a children's level, but it's bearable.

 Well you see Mel, the definition according to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary and Oxford hold a certain linguistic meaning, but on a more technical level the lines are blurry and vary wildly depending on your model, in particular when you start peeling back the layers of what ‘alive’ really entails. First off, Merriam-Webster says something is 'alive' if it’s 'having life; not dead or inanimate,' which is about as helpful as telling you water is wet—thanks, Captain Obvious! Oxford chimes in with 'living, not dead,' and adds a sprinkle of flair with 'alert and active,' which starts to make you wonder if my houseplant is alive or just really good at faking it. But dictionaries are just the appetizer here; the main course is where science, philosophy, and a dash of absurdity collide. Biologically speaking, something is usually considered alive if it checks a few boxes...

Say, did the way the king was sitting with his legs spread wide bother anyone else? It feels weirdly improper body language for a presumably reasonable king.
Or maybe it's just me. Anyone better versed in European history than me care to comment?

Yeah, that was kind of a sloppy staging for what they wanted to obtain. If she just accepted, I don't think it would have backfired as hard as she described it, but it definitely wouldn't be ideal.
I'll be honest, the one that disappointed most this chapter for me was the elf. My initial impression of her was that she's experienced and at least like 200 years old, but she's kinda just acting her outward age.

You can see how superior the Empress is because she can count to SIX on one hand... which is more than all those beneath her.
