Yeah, that was kind of a sloppy staging for what they wanted to obtain. If she just accepted, I don't think it would have backfired as hard as she described it, but it definitely wouldn't be ideal.
I'll be honest, the one that disappointed most this chapter for me was the elf. My initial impression of her was that she's experienced and at least like 200 years old, but she's kinda just acting her outward age.
