What I'm curious about is how all the kana used for vowel elongation that Azami uses are written in katakana. I reckon that's how his dialogue has always been written-- is that unique to him as a character, or is it in line with some kind of Japanese archetype?

Agreed. And I found it very stupid that not even once Kou said: By the way, your girlfriend tried to kill me tonight because she wants you all to herself.
Why do they think that Kiku might be a trustworthy person? She has done nothing but lie and manipulate. The more likely scenario is that she will drain Mahiru to death and then move on the next love interest. The same thing she has done for literally centuries.
