Vector literally started his story talking about how he was tired of all the political fighting and schemes and then ends it talking about all the ways he's been trying to manipulate Ren into becoming one of his companions and plans to keep trying no matter how clearly she hates being approached.... What a hypocrite.

I already had a bad feeling about him knowing that he kept Neil around even after finding out that he's stalked Ren and continues to obsess over her despite her obvious disgust, but this confirms it. He's not just an enabler or an apologist, he's a stalker too....

His fear of Ren making legendary weapons in other countries is fking scary as the leaders of the nation after all. He also has some interest in Ren but it is plainly bc of her look (for now). His fear of Ren making legendary weapons in other countries is fking scary as the leaders of the nation after all. He also has some interest in Ren but it is plainly bc of her look (for now). Dude can redeem if he actually likes her for her personality.

His fear is absolutely reasonable for sure, but a good ruler would see that she feels unsafe, especially after what happens in the following chapters, and do everything in his power to make the country safe for her so she wants to stay and work for the country, not try to manipulate her into working for him. This is why in a world of magic and superpowered individuals, abusive institutions like slavery and upwardly immobile caste systems are a recipe for disaster and only run by idiot nobles, all it takes is one person like Ren who pops up out of nowhere to turn the whole system on its head when they're driven into a corner.

Vector was raised by idiot nobles and still thinks like them, so IMO the only way he can really redeem himself is if he rises above that way of thinking and works with Ren to abolish slavery if he ever finds out that's why she's so prone to running and hiding. A few elite squads armed with Ren's weapons and armor could easily bust every noble backed slavery ring in the country.

I think the problem with that rn is that Vector himself knows nothing about Ren's backstory being in slavery and all, of course he could look into it, but that he has yet to do, afaik the only thing he knows is that Ren is an absolute powerhouse and wants to be left alone, which yknow is hard if you want to appeal to them to stay if ren wants to be left alone, Right now Vector doesnt have a real reason that he knows of to abolish slavery

He did dogeza, even in private, which shows his sincerity in the matter. I think he understands her situation by their exchange at the end of chapter 89.
