There are few things that make my eyes glaze over like stories trying to food porn their way along. Hands down the worst parts of stories like Death March or Kuma Kuma Kuma. Bard Loen only gets a pass, because you can tell the mangaka really puts the effort in (crazy good art and pacing), even if the eating parts suck.

I get what you're saying, but to go to the other extreme you have shows where the food porn is the point and it somehow works out. My personal favorite of that genre is Isekai Shokudou, though I've only watched the anime.

I mean Satou has rank 10 in cooking so it makes sense why nobles act that way to him in Death March.

I think Dungeon Meshi might be my favorite of the cooking focused genre, because it uses fantasy ingredients. More fun. I do appreciate the rare comic that actually has cooking instructions. Think I read a couple that gave out recipes in the author notes.
