I think it's just using his brain too much. He has plenty of mana, and the spells aren't stamina or life force sacrificing spells.

So, he can somehow do Astral Projection and use mana to make spiritual brains to sustain the spells with.

... I dunno, it kinda feels like it shouldn't work but makes sense at the same time.

Since the soul can carry memories in this story, I suppose the soul has a mind which can be used to cast magic.

Ehh, the damage doesn't look that bad. With some work, the machine can probably be repaired.

Why does the spear sound evil, though? It makes sense to destroy the resurrection machine so that no one else can get it, even if it was a righteous spear.
